Baked ziti question

I'm making baked ziti on Sunday for a local family who is dealing with some illness. I'm delivering it on Monday and the assumption is that they will eat it that evening. Do I put it all together and just leave them instructions about baking it? Or, do I bake it Sunday and then tell them to reheat?

Baked ziti question

I would have them cook it. If it is cooked too much the pasta will get mushy.

Re: Baked ziti question

I'd do it in a foil pan and have them bake it. This way if for whatever reason they can't eat it, they can always freeze it.

This. That way, in case they're overwhelmed with what they're dealing with, they can just portion it out and microwave it.

I wouldn't cook it ahead of time. It takes nothing to throw it in the oven to cook through and then they have fresh, hot ziti instead of reheated "leftovers". It's so much yummier when it's fresh out of the oven.

I agree. I would just cover it with foil and provide the cooking directions.

ETA: You may want to add some Italian bread or a salad they can serve with it as well.

Either way will work. Just use a little more tomato sauce than you think it needs, and put a bit extra on top. It will help it from drying out.
