Western Suffolk...
My husband and I are in the process of looking for our first home.  He works in Nassau and I work in eastern Suffolk so we're trying to find somewhere in the middle. We've lived in Selden/Centereach/Coram area our whole lives so we are unsure of what areas are considered good and bad. Ideally somewhere around Deer Park or Babylon would be right in the middle for us but I'm not sure if they are "good." Does anyone have any feedback on those areas, as well as Bay Shore? Any info would be helpful, even on other areas. Thanks in advance!

Western Suffolk...
I student taught in Babylon and the schools are excellent and it's a nice area. I grew up in Bay Shore and my parents still live there. It's very diverse. There are some nice areas and not-so-nice areas. I got an excellent education from the school district. If you have any specific questions feel free to FM me.
ETA: We live in Islip now and absolutely love it. I hear good things about West Islip as well.

I'm in West Islip and really like it. My SIL is in Babylon and loves the town but did not like the schools at all.

We live in Bay Shore and really like the area. You will hear so many different opinions so you really need to know what's important to you. Our SD wonderful special needs and gifted programs. We also have a dual language program that you have the option of putting your child in from Kindergarten thru 5th grade.
IMO I would try and look in the Town of Islip. They have alot of great parks and programs especially if you are planning to start a family.

Western Suffolk...
Another vote for West Islip which is pretty much adjacent to Bay Shore. Babylon school district isn't as good as West Islip in my opinion. I would stay away from Deer Park personally.
