Vinylux nail polish?

So I let the manicure lady talk me into this polish at my last manicure and paid an extra $5 for it. I have to say I am SUPER impressed with this polish! My nails have not chipped at all ( got them done Saturday) and this is really unusual for me...my nails usually chip the same day!

I know nothing about this polish though and I am wondering are there any cons to this polish? Are there more chemicals or anything in it that makes it worse than your typical Essie polish?

Thanks in advance!

I have no idea what makes it different but I have tried it a few times as well and loved it! It lasted a solid week before I noticed any imperfections!

Re: Vinylux nail polish?

Does it come off with regular polish remover? No soaking in acetone?

Re: Vinylux nail polish?

I have been using it since Janaury it is amazing!!!! I posted about it in the other thread and was shocked no one has used it on here. I will never use anything else ever again. I buy it at Cosmo Pro, you need a card to shop there but i borrow one, and its 4.95 a bottle or you can order from ebay

It is not a gel, its a nail polish, no base coat just put the nail polish on the nail then the vinylux top coat

Vinylux nail polish?

I love Vinylux!! I'm a nail tech and I switch between Vinylux and Shellac all the time. Plus, since they are made by the same company a lot of the colors are in both formulas. So you can get a Shellac Manicure and a matching Vinylux pedi. Its 5- Free (so its free of Formaldehyde, DBP, Toluene, Formaldehyde Resin and Camphor). There is no basecoat & the top coat works with natural light to protect the mani. Love working with the product, and wearing it as well!!

I will try it the next time I'm at the salon. I'm glad to hear it's 5 free!

Vinylux nail polish?

How is this for your nails? I hate not having my nails polished but I'm trying to strengthen them up. I've had the gel done for the last three years and am trying to take a break because my nails are so weak and they actually hurt.

Honestly I think the soaking off in acetone is what kills your nails with the gel or shellac.
And this one doesn't need to be removed that way- just regular remover- so I'd assume it's no worse than plain old polish.
I want to try it.
The shellac (or the soaking off the shellac) wrecked my nails this winter. I did 2 manicures too close together and my nails have been a mess since

Anything that's on your nails for an extended period of time without giving your real nails a break to breathe and get air is bad.

Re: Vinylux nail polish?

I just wrote about this nail polish on here.

I am sure it's not great for your nails, and it's put directly on, without the base coat. However, it does last at least a whole week and looks great the entire time!

I don't get manicures often, but I love the fact that now, when I do, I actually get to enjoy it for many events, to just that one night immediately after the trip to the salon.

The only downside to Vanylux is that it's a bit more difficult to take it off than regular nail polish. No need to soak anything, but just requires more rubbing and more remover.

Vinylux is a regular nail polish, comes off with remover no soaking necessary. It lasts about week. Shellac is CND's version of a gel polish. It needs to be soaked off in acetone or their Nourishing Remover. Shellac lasts about two. I've gone three without any problems.

I always tell my clients to use cuticle oil on their nails daily when you have Shellac or gel. It helps keep the nail plate moisturized and strong. (it will also keep the gel shiny and help with an easy removal). Since I'm around nail polish remover a lot if I want polish on my nails I go to Shellac. I can soak it off and then go to the next color, my nails are strong because of the cuticle oil. I also put vaseline around my finger tips when I soak off the gel so the acetone doesn't dry out my skin and nail bed.

Also never pick or peel off any gel, it will definitely ruin your nails.

Also never let anyone take gel polish off with a drill. My mom went some place and they did that, which messed up her nails.

Vinylux nail polish?

The Vinylux is thick like the shellac so I think that's why it works so well. I love it! I got it in california when i was traveling for work but haven't found a salon near home that uses it. It's definitely worth the extra money and I love that it comes off like a regular polish!

You can buy it on Amazon if you want to do it yourself.

Mine charges extra $3. They all charge more for it because it's technically a better deal and probably a more expensive nail polish. How much more exactly depends on how much they think they can get away with without people saying "no thank you."

Re: Vinylux nail polish?

I just wanted to update my post. As of tomorrow, I will have gone two full weeks since getting my nails done! I can honestly say it was worth every penny if the $5 up charge. The tips of my nails are starting to show a little white, but they're not really chipped. They look how my nails would look 2-3 days after a regular manicure. I plan on getting my nails done tomorrow and will definitely get the vinylux again.

It's called Stylish Nails, even though it still has the old Oats Pretty Fingers sign too. It's right on Mamaroneck Ave between the Dunkin Donuts and Dunnes.
