Sensitive ?

When is it ok and not ok to wear a bikini?
I'm less than 5 feet tall and size 2 curvy pants however I'm very self conscious because my stomach is no way near flat and I have small love handles. I exercise and eat healthy but unless I never eat what I shouldn't I accept this is my body type and it won't be perfect esp as I get older. I also have darker skin and stretch marks from babies.

I've seen a lot of women who IMO simply should not be in a bikini and I don't want to be seen as one! Tankinis are ok for me but my bf suggested I wear a bikini so now I'm thinking I could explore. I see lands end has some "high waisted" bottoms for more coverage.

I will be spending my 2nd summer on the water with him and others most weekends so I need options this isn't once in a while that I will be in a bathing suit.

Opinions??

I say, if your BF wants to see you in it, try it out! Personally, I'm of the wear what you want and flaunt what you've got kinda girl. They make those awesome new bikini's for bigger girls and I think they rock them - I was planning on getting one for myself this summer, but as a preggo I think it's not the best idea. I say go for it and enjoy seeing your BF oogle all over you all summer long!

Re: Sensitive ?

Honestly it is whatever YOU feel comfortable with.
We all have different levels of comfort with our bodies. Someone you view as having a "perfect" body, may be uncomfy in a bikini and then there is someone who you think, Hey she should NOT be in a bikini, and they are walking around with it all hanging out and proud.
I was in Miami recently and saw some women in itsy bitsy and I mean TINY STRING bikinis who had no business being in them in the traditional sense, but they were walking around, strutting their stuff proud as could be.
And I admired them for it. Confidence goes a long way..

I personally wear a bikini. Is my stomach pefect? No. I am not happy with it since having my DD. I lost all the weight, it's techicnally "flat" but I feel it's looser or flabbier or something. DH thinks I am nuts.
But again. it's what i see.
However, I feel confident enough in my body to wear a bikini. I wore when while 8 and 9 months preggo too! Chat Icon

If you don't, and you feel like it will hinder your having fun because you will constantly be self conscious and trying to cover, then stick with tankinis or whatever you feel better in.

I think a lot of the time, women who don't look good in a bikini aren't too big, their bikini is too small.

I think as long as the bikini fits, you will look great.

I agree. I'm small but I have love handles. I just make sure I get a bottom with thicker sides, no string bikinis for me. I think you just have to go, try on a bunch of different styles and sizes and find what works.

Yes! Try to find bottoms that have a fold over top to them (kinda like yoga pants are on the top). SO much more flattering for little love handles than a regular bottom.
