"other testing"

So I need your advice ladies. I've had three MC in dating back all the way from 2008 to 2014. My last conversation with my RE he asked if I had considered getting other testing done, autoimmune etc. since I've never made pass 8 weeks of being pregnant.

He recommended Dr. Jonathan Scher. My question to you is who have you used for such testing and why? Please share and thank you!

Re: "other testing"

I also had 3 miscarriages and had very extensive testing done including immune. I had the testing done with Dr. Kofinas. I chose him because he has a reputation for being extremely thorough, I know many people who have seen him after suffering many losses and went on to have healthy babies, he has an office local to me (Garden City) and was able to fit me in without months of waiting. I am now 23 weeks pregnant and am seeing him every 2 weeks to monitor my pregnancy (he is a perinatologist). Chat Icon

Edit: we had karyotyping done by my OB after my second loss because it was chromosomal

no advice but just wanted to say sorry for your loss Chat Icon I have read good things about Kofinas, Braverman, and Dr. T on here, though.

Re: "other testing"

I've had 3 m/cs too. I'm a patient of LIIVF and my doc also recommend Jonathan Scher (but only after I brought up the desire for immune testing) because nothing else has shown a reason for what has happened. I did not meet with Scher, but made an appt for a consult with Dr. T (SIRM) which is next month. I feel like he will look outside the box more. I feel like if this Dr. Scher was really into the immuno stuff then it would be more well known for it. But considering the LIIVF docs don't really believe in immune stuff, I wouldn't expect them to send me to someone too into it.

Re: "other testing"

Sorry you are going through this. My diagnosis was unexplained and we did 6 IUIs, 2 IVFs, and 1 FET. BFNs or chemicals. So since I only had one more chance with IVF I decided I needed answers and that the unexplained diagnosis had more to it. I brought up immune issues to my RE but he doesn't believe in them. I had the RLP and it didn't show anything. I switched REs and got immune testing. I worked with Dr. T at SIRM and an immune issue showed up. My protocol included Prednisone and intralipid infusions. I will be 13 weeks preg tomorrow after so many failures. I highly recommend getting immune testing done bc I think the meds I was given for my immune issue and a new RE are the only reasons I am preg.

If you have any questions FM me. GL

Me too, I'm with LIIVF, Dr. Brenner. I love him, he's been so super sweet though out this whole nightmare. He actually brought it up to me at following visit on Wednesday. He doesn't believe it, but he will go along with it if that's what I want to do.

Yes, Dr. Brenner here as well. All 3 of my losses were with a different doc in the group who was not very compassionate which is why I changed, but now I can't even seem to get pregnant. Dr. Brenner's only advice is to move on to IVF w PGD, but since i'm OOP paying for everything, I don't want to do that until immune issues are ruled out. I hope the testing with Dr. T next month will shed some light on the situation. Unexplained is so frustrating!

hummm seems like we are in the same position, he also recommended the PGD testing before IVF as well. Like you I think I would like to get the teasing done before. I can't proceed with IVF until September. I can't wait to hear how your appointment goes.

Thank you! Its really a miracle after all I have been through. Yes, he only sees you at 6 weeks and 8 weeks and then he releases you to your OB. I even did the BETA tests at Quest so I didn't have to go into the city. Going into the city is not convenient for me, but I made it work bc I thought this was my only hope. I still had to go every 3 weeks for intralipids though. I am going on Friday and then I'll have one more intralipids at 16 weeks there. The office is nice. When I first met him at my consult he wasn't all warm and fuzzy so be prepared for that but once I started actually going to him he was great. I brought my records from my former RE and a list of questions. GL and FM me with any questions.

Re: "other testing"

I had 3 losses all before 6 weeks and 1 blighted ovum in almost 2 years. I saw an RE who did some testing and didn't find anything wrong with me. She suggested IVF with PGD. I was not ready to do that. So I decided to see Dr. Braverman who ran some immune testing. I again got pregnant on my own but was put on Prednisone, Lovenox and Intralipid infusions by Braverman. And I believe that did the trick. I am now 13 weeks. Good luck!
