Hawaii

DH and I are thinking about going to Hawaii in December.

For those who've been there, if you could go to Oahu and one other island, which island would you pick?

How many days on each island is enough?

Do you have any hotel and activity recommendations?

We went to Hawaii for our Honeymoon. We did 5 days on Maui and 5 on Kauai. We planned to spend the last day on Oahu to see pearl harbor and stuff but we ddin't want to leave Kauai so we changed our flight and skipped it...don't regret it for a minute. IMHO, I would skip Oahu and pick 2 other islands (unless you really want to do pearl harbor--then I would spend the least amount of time there as possible). Overall, I heard Oahu is just a tropical city. Nice, but the other islands are much better. Maui and Kauii were amazing. Kauai is more low key and has less to do nightlife wise (not that Maui is totally hopping). Tons of activities on both but they each have a different feel. I don't think I could tell you which one to choose because it depends on what you like and what you are looking for in your trip. If you ware thinking of other islands, I would love to go to the Big Island (next time). It is supposed to be beautiful and also different than the other islands.

We went to Hawaii for our Honeymoon.

We made some stops.Here is what we did.

2 Nights in San Fran
3 Nights in Oahu
3 Nights in Kaui
3 Nights in Maui
2 Nights in Vegas.

We wanted to break it up with the nights in San Fran and in Vegas since its 11 hours and didn't want to sit that all in one day. I would definetly do that again HOWEVER im not sure if I would do Oahu again. Oahu was VERY nice. And it was our first hawaiian stop so of course we WERE IN HEAVEN UNTIL... We got to Kaui and Maui. I might visit Oahu as a day trip.

We stayed in all Hyatts (except in vegas) and they were EXCELLENT WOULD STAY THERE AGAIN!

We rented a car in Kaui and a Jeep in Maui. I think if I did it again I would go for the jeep in Kaui also

We did our Helicopter Ride in Kaui and OMG IT WAS AMAZING! We used Ohana and they flew around the island through the "jungle" that they filmed Jurassick park. And over Walimea Canyon (sp) We also drove up Walimea canyon Great drive!!!!!




When we were they we made a PROMISE for our 5 year anniversary trip to go back to Maui. We loved Kaui but liked Maui a little more!

Based on several reviews on LIW, DH and I skipped Oahu and did

4 nights Maui
3 nights Big Island
5 nights Kauai

If I had to choose two, I would choose Maui and Kauai.

I want to go back!!

the only island that we have been on is the Big Island... it was our best vacation EVER, we fell in love with Hawaii and are planning to go back in the near future... Big Island has so much to offer: great food, sightseeing, beautiful beaches... I could go on and on

We just went to Hawaii for our Honeymoon. It was absolutely beautiful and you will love it!!
We stayed in the Halukelani in Oahu. It was a fantastic 5 star hotel, but it is expensive and I am not sure of what your budget is.
Then we stayed at the Hyatts on both Maui and Kaui. I would highly recommend both hotels. The Kaui Hyatt is a five star hotel and the pool is fantastic. The Hyatt in Maui is also great and the beach is great to walk on, and the water is pretty calm.
If you have a little extra money or maybe a lot I would look into the Waliea side on Maui. We visited the Grand Waliea Hotel and it is one of the nicest hotels I have ever seen. I also heard the Four Season and the Fairmont are amazing!!

I LOVED Kaui!! There is not much to do at night, but my Dh are both fine with that. It is just so beautiful!!
Maui was so much fun, and such a beautiful island.
I would skip Oahu unless you really want to go. It is like going to California or Miami more then Hawaii. Lots of high ends stores, and city like atmosphere. We loved our hotel and had a great time, but 2 days for us was enough.

Okay if you are set on Oahu, the other island I would choose would be Maui.
