Julep Rant
After seeing a few magazine write ups about Julep's new plie wand (a tool that's supposed to make it easier to paint your own nails, especially with your non-dominant hand), I decided to try it. Sephora didn't have it yet, so I ordered directly from Julep. The wand comes with a brush, but has an "overcap" that is also supposed to be able to attach the brushes that come with Julep polishes, so I also ordered a couple. What a mistake!
The wand comes with the "precision brush" already attached. The cap for that brush (which is like the cap that comes on a bottle of nail polish) is permanently embedded in the overcap. So, I can't use the overcap to attach to any of the brushes that came with the polishes I ordered. Okay, fine. I'll just try the brush that came with the plie wand. Except that goes on super streaky.
I've been trying to contact customer service about this to try to return it (which apparently I can't do because I tried to use it, notwithstanding that it's defective). There were no instructions with it, but customer service claims I was supposed to clean the precision brush first. After many e-mails back and forth, they still can't/won't tell me how I'm supposed to do that.
What a waste of money! I wish I had just waited for it to come out at Sephora. At least they would have accepted a return!

I just watched a video on juleps website on this product. The precision brush is supposed to detach, maybe you aren't doing it correctly? Maybe have someone else try and separate it from the overcap.
In the video it says to clean the precision brush to remove the protective coating before first use, but this doesn't solve your problem of separating it from the overcap. So obviously if it can't separate it's defective. They need to take it back if that's the case, try talking to someone else.

The brush detaches from its cap, but unfortunately, that cap just stays lodged in the overcap. Customer service's response is basically keep trying to pry it out. They're obviously very helpful.
And I did try to clean the brush before using it. CS says I must not have done it correctly, since it was still streaky, but they never answer me when I ask how it's supposed to be cleaned.

Re: Julep Rant
I have no input about the item but personally, I'd dispute the sale with my credit card since they aren't letting you return it.

Call them out on social media...they'll fix the situation for you.
That really stinks :(

Thanks! That's a good idea. I have exhausted all of my options with them directly.

Re: Julep Rant
I do not understand the hype over their products. I tried them out and they were so incredibly streaky and gloppy.

Re: Julep Rant
That is a shame... I love my pile wand- but I really only use it for the dotting/striping tools which are great for nail art
