skipping food shopping
I'm going to try and skip this week, mainly because I'm feeling too lazy to get to the store any ideas of what I can whip up? I have typical pantry items (quinoa, stewed tomatoes, rice, pasta) , frozen chicken i can thaw, frozen burgers, bread, cheese. Need some inspiration thanks!

Re: skipping food shopping
I would have a hard time doing this because we eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies that have to be purchased weekly. Do you have any frozen?
You can easily whip up a chicken stew with the tomatoes and pasta, rice or quinoa if you have garlic and some spices!

Based on this I would make a cheeseburger casserole type thing. I would use pasta and chop up the burgers, add stewed tomatoes and throw in some cheese.
Also quinoa, shredded chicken and cheese altogether is usually good. I usually make something like that with broccoli.
You can also do rice with chicken and tomatoes, kind of like arroz con pollo style.

skipping food shopping
When I skip shopping I always use up leftovers first along with fresh produce since those won't last long. After that, move to frozen and pantry options. Maybe a chicken chili bulked up with beans and topped with cheese. Burgers of course, pasta with sauce and veggies, you can do a cold pasta or quinoa salad if you have some fresh veggies.

Re: skipping food shopping
When I skip shopping occasionally, I usually try to make things that allow me to use up what's there without being too precise about ingredients, such as:
Soups (I like to simmer veggies with a little chicken broth or veggie broth and onion, garlic, spices, etc. and then puree with an immersion blender)
Kitchen-sink type salads where you can throw a lot of odds and ends in... I like to make grain based salads, too, or quinoa salads, because they stay longer and pack well for summer outings (pool, beach, etc.)
Quiches/based frittatas - throw bits of cheese, meat, veggies into them and bake them
Pasta dishes - pasta salad, or make a quick tomato sauce, or a mac and cheese (if you have milk, flour, cheese, etc. on hand)
Use your chicken to do something simple -- like marinate with lemon, olive oil, garlic, and throw it on the grill... or even throw the chicken in the crockpot with some pantry ingredients to make something like salsa chicken (chicken, salsa, and whatever else -- beans, corn, you want to add) or make a shredded chicken with homemade bbq sauce (there's recipes online, but if you have ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, canned tomatoes, honey you should be good to go). Or made chicken cutlets or homemade chicken nuggets.
You can always do breakfast for dinner with homemade pancakes, waffles, eggs, etc.
Grilled cheese
You can make a lot of dishes if you have potatoes on hand... homemade oven fries (as a side dish) or potato salad, hash browns (to go with breakfast for dinner), baked potatoes (in the summer I often do them in the microwave) as an entrée stuffed with whatever you have (frozen broccoli or veggies, cheese, bacon, salsa and chicken, etc.).

Same as above, soups, stews, anything I can do in the crockpot/slow cooker.... That's why, for me, this is typically done during the winter more than during the summer - too hot!

I ran into the store to get our usual milk/eggs/veggies/fruit so have it all on hand, just didn't feel like doing a full on shopping this weekend.
Thanks! this was helpful, got some good ideas and will save money this week which is always a plus I have a lot more food than I realized on hand, I should do this more often.

skipping food shopping
It's just DH and me so it is a bit easier. I try to do a big shop every other week or every third week. It forces me to use what I have on hand, rather than filling my freezer every week. Of course if I see a good meat or fish price, I will take advantage of that and stock up. My freezer is organized by meat type, so I can quickly see that I am running low on chicken, or beef or pork. All I really need to do every week is fresh produce/milk/bread
