How long to finish a basement?

If you've finished a basement completely, how long did the process take from start to finish?
I mean a completely bare basement to finish. And how big was the space?

Thanks!

We did half of our basement, including new interior stairs and a half bath. Took them about 7 work days. Some days were half days though.

Re: How long to finish a basement?

Ours took 2 months start to finish from bare bones to painted.

However, a lot of those days were half days (spackle days, mostly) or no-show days. If they had come every single day, I'd say 6 weeks max.

Re: How long to finish a basement?

Missed the second part - the raw space was
40 x 27, but we didn't finish 1/4 of it. That 1/4 became the laundry room. So, maybe 800 sq ft finished space.

Re: How long to finish a basement?

Ours was just completed. Took 6 weeks but the first week was demo of existing poorly finished space - so they gutted it to the foundation walls. Roughly 5 weeks from there. Approx 1100 sq.ft.

ETA: a big chunk of the time was installing a full size egress window. which, aside from being necessary to comply with municipal regulations, was really a great addition - adds SO much natural light down there.

One week for this.

If you have professionals doing the work, I don't think a basement should take more than that.

How long to finish a basement?

It really depends on what you're planning to do with it. Just basic work should be about a week.

Re: How long to finish a basement?

Ours took 3 weeks. We took a two car garage and had to build up a sub floor, lots of closets for storage, a half bath, build walls, all new lighting, carpeting. It was a lot if work. We thought the timing was great considering how much we had to do down there.

Re: How long to finish a basement?

We completed our entire basement (about 1200 square feet) in about 7 weeks... It went from concrete walls and floor to sheetrock, full bath, bedroom, built in bar, ceiling tiles, carpet, wood flooring in a small section, installation of egress window etc. Soup to nuts, about 7 weeks...

Re: How long to finish a basement?

we had help from family and did most of it ourselves except for sheetrocking and putting down flooring. I want to say it took 2 months.

Re: How long to finish a basement?

Ours is 1800 sq.If I had to add up the time from various people who worked on it, including my DH's time and mine. I would say 6/7 weeks. That included waiting for inspections. The drywall alone took 7 days between bringing the material down which took a few hours, waiting for the spackel to dry and labor.
We installed laminate flooring, that took about 4 days. The electrical took about 10 days ( we have a lot of lights)

In actuality we started in January and finished in May. The 6/7 weeks is if I added up all the time back to back.
