Spotting at 9 weeks with twins
So last night I started seeing light brown/tanish every time I wipe. After 5 years of infertility and miscarriages, I always check after I wipe. I just had my first OB appt yesterday, all looked great, and they looked fine during the sono. The office is closed today, should I go to the ER?

Spotting at 9 weeks with twins
Are you cramping? Is the blood bright red? Are you soaking a pad? I spotted with my twins and went on to carry them to 38w.

Did they do a transvag sono? Was there an internal? And did you DTD? All 3 of those things could cause spotting... Along with constipation and straining when trying to go. I had spotting (singleton) for a while on and off, even bright pink - the placenta was over my cervix. But your cervix and vag are very sensitive and swollen now, anything could irritate it.

Thanks for the responses ladies. No it is only when I wipe, nothing on my underwear. No red, just tannish coloring.
They did a transvag, but that's the only sonos I ever get. I have also been on progesterone suppositories.
You both made me feel better. I will monitor it, and if it gets worse I'll go to the ER. Just so nerve wracking seeing any type of spotting!

Re: Spotting at 9 weeks with twins
I had spotting at 4 weeks and 8 weeks. I only noticed it when I wiped too. I did call my dr right away and his response was that bleeding during pregnancy is never considered normal but it is common. Both times he brought me in the next day and everything looked great.
He did put me on no exercise no sports no sex. He said after any sort of spotting you should wait three weeks to resume normal activity.
One of other times I spotted was right after sex so your sono may have been the culprit.
If it were me, call the office and leave a message with the service for the on call dr. Since they saw you yesterday they might suggest just waiting and coming into the office Monday morning for another sono.
My advice for the weekend: do nothing! Take it easy! Put your feet up!
I will add : he said I may spot from time to time but when you see red blood like a period that is of big concern ... So it sounds like you Are going to be just fine. I also had cramping with my spotting at 8 weeks and he said with any kind of bleed or spotting cramping is very common.

Re: Spotting at 9 weeks with twins
I had spotting around the same time with both of my first 2 pregnancies. I did have spotting one day after my first sono as well. I called my OB and they assured me that if it was brownish or darker blood it was likely old blood and it could have been from the soon. I remember my Ob mentioning that the cervix is extremely friable at this point and a pap or internal sono could irritate it enough to cause some light bleeding. If it isn't red and you are not cramping I would try to stay calm. I went on to have 2 healthy dc after 1st trimester spotting. Hang in there

Re: Spotting at 9 weeks with twins
I had full on bleeding at 6 weeks pregnant with twins. I was 100% sure I had a miscarriage but both babies were fine. I turned out to have a subchorionic hematoma which caused bleeding anywhere from light spotting to full on heavy period-like blood with clots from 6 weeks until 19 weeks. It was very scary but both babies are over 2 years old now and fine :)

Spotting at 9 weeks with twins
I bled RED blood at the end of 5 weeks into 6 weeks. It was not enough to soak a pad but it was enough that when I wiped the tissue had a good amount of red. I then spotted red and brown for a couple of days. I thought it was over. This was on a Friday night and then I went to my RE on Monday and everything was fine. He said some women just bleed in early pregnancy and to take it easy. I'm now 17 weeks pregnant! If it was me, if the blood is stopping, I would go in on Monday just to check everything out. GL

I think that is very normal. I would just give a call on Monday, unless of course it gets worse before then...

This is what my dr. said too - its not normal, but very common. I had spotting until 11 weeks and with cramping often. Everything was fine - I went in at first to check and all was well - and then it just went away at 11 weeks. I know its scary, but try not to worry but go to get checked just for your own anxiety.

Oh yeah, between the US and the progesterone some tan/brown is very likely the result of one of those. I had brown spotting the whole 12w I was on progesterone suppositories. And it got pink after transvaginal US.
So.... Sounds very normal, but if it continues and you find yourself stressing anyway, go get checked. Peace of mind is the best thing for your babies right now!!!
