My Brother is Dying
Chances are he won't make it through today. We have been estranged for the a bit more than a year, and I am not welcome at the hospital. I only found out a few days ago that he was even in the hospital, as his wife didn't tell anyone in the family, and we found out in a roundabout way.
His in-laws own the funeral home where he will be laid out, and I'm sure they will try to keep me out. I'm sad and heartbroken and angry and at a loss, and all of those things you go through when someone you care about is sick and dying.
I know that because he is not conscious now, and because I cannot go to the hospital, there will not be any repair to the rift, nor will there be any goodbyes in any meaningful way.
I have to find a way to make peace with that, and frankly I don't know how.

My Brother is Dying
I'm praying for you... do what feels right to you in your heart, even if it is to go offer a silent prayer by yourself somewhere. You'll have peace.

Re: My Brother is Dying
No one will allow you even though he is dying? What an awful spot to be in, to not be able to get the closure that you would like. I am so sorry. This happened with my grandmother and her brother. She was conscious enough before passing and still would not allow him in. If you cannot go, you have to just tell yourself that you tried your best and it was beyond your control.
