i had it done a couple of months ago. i won't lie, it wasn't overly pleasant. you've got a tube down your nose for 24 hours. doc did tell me i could suck on sore throat drops though, which did help somewhat. they will tell you exactly what you can and can't eat with it. its a pretty bland diet. but for 24 hours, its livable. i was told to come back the next day to get it removed and they said i could come in when they opened, so i would say i had it for maybe 21 hours. couldn't get rid of it fast enough. if nothing else, the test along with a gut motility study (which is still a tube down your nose, but for alot less time) told me my acid reflux meds didn't work. i metabolized them in about 2 hours instead of 12-24. so new meds, and they new ones are working much much better.

Can you eat, drink or exercise? Does your throat hurt or anything else?

you feel like something is stuck in it. you won't want to exercise, you've got the monitor with you, like a pocketbook that has to come with you all day and night. you can eat and drink, you will have to log what and when you do. but the diet is restricted. only certain things for liquid, certain foods. mostly plain and simple, low fiber. chicken, pasta, cheese were ok as i remember. the sore throat drops help numb your throat a bit, so its not as annoying, it didn't really hurt per se. it was more an annoyance. once they take it out, it will be sore for a little while though.

Mine wasn't a tube. It was a probe they attached to my esophagus. It registered to a beeper like thing I had to keep on me at all times. After a couple of days it detached on its own. I just turned in the beeper. As a pp said, it wasn't pleasant but it didn't ruin my day. It felt like I had something stuck in my throat.
I was told to eat as I normally would.
Here is info on the test they did on me. It was maybe 6-7 years ago.
