Getting grime off of wood cabinets?
We just moved into a house and the cabinets above and around the stove area have sticky whatever - grime- on them I guess from cooking. What's the best way to get it off? I'm afraid of taking the finish off of the cabinets with my usual method.

I would probably give a magic eraser a try first.

water down some ammonia (and wear a mask). It cuts right through grease.

Yes I read the box of the magic eraser and wood is definitely not on the list of okay surfaces. I used that on my range hood at my former house and it took the finish right off!
I'll try the ammonia. Thanks!

I would try Murphy's oil soap too. There is also a product called cabinet magic that I use once or twice a year to completely clean my cabinets.

Re: Getting grime off of wood cabinets?
Murphy's Oil Soap with an old washcloth. use it straight then rinse with warm water. You may have to repeat to get all the old buildup off. When dry follow up with lemon oil to keep the cabinets moisturized. This is what I do with my cabinets.
