What to expect? - First IUI

Hi,
I’m pretty sure I am out this cycle, expecting AF tomorrow. I will be scheduling an HSG within the next 10 days, starting my last cycle of femara (#3), and doing my first IUI. I will check with my RE once I go in on CD3 but I was just wondering what the norm is for scheduling IUI’s, how long do they take etc….

I believe my RE does IUI 36 hrs post trigger, do they normally do it during monitoring hours in the AM or during the day?? My husband is typically unavailable between 530AM-3PM. Just trying to get a sense of things.. Thanks!

Generally IUI's are done in the morning. (at least at the practice I go to) Maybe freezing your DH's sperm might be an option if he is not available the day of.

no ours was frozen (donor sperm) and worked....

that's actually why our wait was longer they dont unfreeze until you are physically there. There is a $100 defrost fee.

At our practice, IUIs are done starting at around 8:30am. I would usually be in an out within a half hour to 45 minutes, including waiting, the procedure and lying for 10 minutes afterwards.

Wow!! Who was your RE? At my practice I am waiting each time an hour at the very least (just to go in the room!). One time they were so busy that I waited 4 hours!!! I was livid! This is why I freak out about getting IUI's done during a weekday, because I am guaranteed to be late to work.

RMA. I think I had to wait once (when I actually got pg with DS) b/c the dr was called into an emergency, but even then my wait was maybe 30 minutes. 4 hours I'd leave!
