OK, I manage a medical practice, it's neurology, so for the most part we do not get SICK people in the office. Sometimes people will come in with a cold, but that's about it. There is an older patient here right now, who literally just admitted that she has pneumonia!!!!!!!!! Even though I'm the practice manager, I literally stepped back and was like, sorry, but I'm 8 months pregnant and can't risk getting sick. Are you kidding me???? You have pneumonia and were in the hospital for 1 full week last week, you stay home from any and all non-essential appointments... and trust me, this isn't essential, this could have been rescheduled for next week or the week after.

I would not worry too much. Unless you are someone who gets pneumonia often you are not at risk to get it.

My son had it when he was 1ish (maybe 15 months) and was put on antibiotics and the Ped told me he could go to school cause unless you have a history of getting it you would most likely only get a cold from him.

I know, I've been around pneumonia before, it just bugged me that she came in knowing she was sick. It's not a pcp's office, urgent care, or anything like that... we ALWAYS tell people, if you are sick we will reschedule.

I had a patient come in not that long ago who was just diagnosed with mono. I work in a dental office!

If they were discharged last week from the hospital after being their a whole week I am sure she has been on antibiotics for almost 2 weeks now. I wouldn't worry. I work as a nurse in a hospital and have not caught pneumonia yet.

I would't worry but it is ridiculous. But people are self centered and insensitive.
