Adoption through Foster Care

I am looking for experiences from anyone that has successfully adopted through foster care.

We have successfully completed the required MAPP training to become Foster Parents and we are currently in the process of completing the homestudy. Our hope is that we can register as a pre-adoptive foster family for a child age 0-3. I have been told that you can do this. Hoping someone has experience in this.

Also, a lot of people are not aware that you can do this. Adoption through foster care is relatively cost free, and I have been told that only about 30% of children removed from their homes actually are reunified with them.

Here is a link from Resolve. There is a great recorded webinar entitled "Foster Care Adoption: Dispelling the Myths"

Adoption through Foster Care

My husband and I are foster parents with the intent to adopt. It is a long wait so be prepared! We were placed with a child in April that they felt would go the adoption route and it did not. The child was moved from our home to a kinship home and I just learned from the mommy that she was reunited. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions or just need someone to talk to.
