Update - What is this feeling? - Possible TMI

Since about 2 pm this afternoon I've had an occasional jolt in my lady area! It doesn't hurt, exactly, its just an unexpected little jolt. Almost like a muscle spasm or something. I've been doing kegels the past two days and it feels like the muscles you flex when doing those exercises.

I just left a message for my OB nurse, but figured I'd check in to see if anyone had any similar experiences.

I'm just 16 weeks.

TIA!!

PS - on a lighter note, those OB nurse messages from first time moms must be a hoot to listen to! I know just my own messages are explicit and, after everything is ok, hilarious!

ETA: last week I called because I was having pressure in my lower abdomen, but it went away after I went to the bathroom (#2, TMI, sorry) and they said that was normal, pressure from the growing uterus on my intestine. Could this be more of the same? Pressure on everything down there?

Maybe its more like an achiness? I have a really hard time explaining what I'm feeling and pinpointing it, TBH.

Update: The nurse just called me back and said it could be round ligament pain related to the growing uterus and everything stretching out down there with the pelvic floor. She said that's fairly common around 16 weeks and they hear about it a lot. I've heard of people complaining about round ligament pain, but had no idea what it felt like.

It's unofficially known as Lightning Crotch. Google it. It's very common!

ETA: Mine started sometime around then I think.

I can't believe it!! I was describing it to DH as lightning in my lady parts!! And then I googled it.

WHOAH! It's a real thing. I feel a lot better. Except for the lighting strikes down there. Chat Icon
