When does Star kick in if you just purchased the residence?

We purchased our home in June (we were receiving Basic Star on our old house)

We are town of Huntington now. I understand we need to apply now correct? When would it start? Rigt now I do not receive the star deduction on my taxes. Curious as to when I would start receiving that.

After you apply for it and it's granted it goes into effect for the next year. So you won't see it until next December unfortunately. I too lost a whole year of the exemption because of when we closed.

In Suffolk, you need to have your application in prior to March 1. You will see the exemption in the following year's tax bill.

So, you would need to submit your application no later than March 1, 2015. You will then see the reduction in your 2015/16 tax bill - which is issued on or about December 1, 2015.
