Jetted bathtub... yay or nay?
I am wondering if the jets get nasty over time.

Re: Jetted bathtub... yay or nay?
I've never had one, but always wanted one. I love using them when we are away at a nice hotel/resort. However, I think the jets can get gross, especially if you don't use the tub often. They are generally high maintenance and prone to problems, from what I've heard.
Also, surprisingly, I've sold several homes that have jetted tubs and all if the owners claim that they never use them!
If I remodeled a bathroom, I think I'd still lean toward getting one. I feel like it's a luxury I would definitely enjoy!

Re: Jetted bathtub... yay or nay?
I have one in my downstairs bathroom and I've never used it. The jets look fine- if there's something special that needs to be done, I'm not doing it
If you think it's something you'll use, definitely go for it!

Re: Jetted bathtub... yay or nay?
I had one in my first house. I used to clean it by filling the tub with warm water, added bleach then turned the jets on. I would then drain the water, refill with warm water again, turn the jets on to flush then drain.

Re: Jetted bathtub... yay or nay?
Our house had an enormous 1980's jetted tub when we bought it. When we renovated our master bathroom a few years ago we replaced it with an air tub. It's a Bain Ultratub. The massage is much better than the jets in my opinion and it has a drying cycle. A few minutes after the tub is empty the air comes on again to dry out the holes so it doesn't get funky. It's really easy to clean. I use it once a week. Our model also has chromatherapy and a heated back

Re: Jetted bathtub... yay or nay?
I grew up with one and the house we recently bought has one. I used the one in my parents house a handful of times. Haven't used the one in our house now yet, but that's b/c I'm pg and won't take baths. I plan on taking a loooong one after DD is born. Lol.
ETA: Neither of these tubs have dirty jets. If they get dirty, you can usually just run it and it blows all the dirt out anyway, assuming you don't let it sit forever dirty.

I say Yay IF and only IF you are a lounge in the bathtub on a regular basis type of person ........ I am not ......at all.
But if you're going to actually USE it, then Yay

Re: Jetted bathtub... yay or nay?
The bathroom we just renovated had one. We considered putting another one in but I know it would never be used. If I had room for a separate tub shower I might have done it. It's just a pain to keep clean for an occasional use!

Lol it was a splurge and DH doubted if I'd use it because I didn't use the old one. We have a separate shower so the old tub just took up space. I really enjoy it even more than I thought I would. It's me time once a week!

Jetted bathtub... yay or nay?
You can also put 1/4 dishwashing powder - if anyone still uses it - in a jetted tub and run it a while to clean it. That was the instruction that came with mine.

Re: Jetted bathtub... yay or nay?
The air tub that KellyFG described is the way to go.
The jetted tubs that are also tub/shower combos do get nasty. My MIL is the cleanest person on earth and her jets always seemed dirty to me. The jetted tubs that were just tubs seem to fare better.

Re: Jetted bathtub... yay or nay?
Don't do it. In theory it is nice to have. Our house had one installed by the previous owners, who also said the never used it. The big tub was great but the jets started leaking and we had a flood in our kitchen ceiling. We had to replace the tub. Several people told us it was common for them to leak and need replacement. Not worth the headache. Everyone I know who has one says they use them a lot at first, then never use it anymore.
