Re-sealing Granite
This is my first time having granite countertops and I've been told that they need to be re-sealed every year. Am I understanding that correctly? Anyone know how to do this? My countertops are gorgeous and I don't want them getting ruined!
Sorry, I'm a clueless new homeowner

i didnt do it for at least 3 years and then realized i should you can get the sealant stuff from home depot, etc. you just clean & dry them really well then follow instructions on the bottle. pretty easy but pretty toxic i think

Yes you shoulder reveal every year. They sell sealers in dh or lowes. It's very easy to do.

Its super easy. First wash the counters carefully and dry them. Use your hands to be sure they are absolutely smooth and clean as you don't want to seal in any old food spills. Then seal the counters by wiping sealer on while using gloves.

Did your granite place tell you that? Ours came with a lifetime sealer they applied so we don't have to seal and our place specifically told us not to. It's been about seven years and so far, so good - works great.

I have no idea....the countertops came with the house! I wish I knew at least where the previous owners got them so I could ask.
I have a handyman coming this month to do a couple things so I might ask him if he knows.
Thank you all!

This is ours as well... I've NEVER heard in all our research of having to reseal granite every year, maybe that's for granite installed a few years ago (?).

Re: Re-sealing Granite
We built our house and it was finished in May 2014. We were told to reseal our granite.

I have never had to reseal our and my Parents have had granite in their houses since the 90s and they only had to reseal once.
I am guessing it is also on how you maintain it.
