switching between partial and full highlights?

I used to get partial highlights and now I am doing full highlights.

Do you think I can do a partial highlight in between? My friend suggested it since i rarely wear my hair up and it would be really nice for my wallet haha

it's going to be difficult to blend - you should ask your stylist

Re: switching between partial and full highlights?

I have been doing this for years.
I do a full head.
And then when I start seeing roots about 6-8 weeks later I go for a partial.
It takes care of the roots and you honestly cannot tell the difference.
Then another 6-8 weeks later, a full head again.

All 3 of my stylists that I have had over the past several years had suggested it to me and it honestly works- especially if you are not wearing your hair up a lot.

switching between partial and full highlights?

It moreso depends on what your natural color is and how light your highlights are...

Im dark blonde and get partial highlights to a lighter golden blonde I can go between partial and full because when its growing out I dont need to run to run to the salon for a touch up. Ive gone like 6-8 months without getting my color done.
My friend is a VERY dark brunette and gets highlights and always gets full because her hair is so dark.

switching between partial and full highlights?

I just changed to a new stylists and she suggested I try alternating between the two. I have been getting full highlights for the past 10 years and never had anyone suggest this to me before. I have dark blonde hair with natural highlights of my own. I just did the partial for the first time and I have to say I am not crazy about it. Even though I not that dark to begin with I can still tell that my color isn't as heavy as I usually like it. I am going to see what she says when I talk to her next time I go but I will probably be sticking with all full going forward.

I alternate all the time - I never considered getting fulls constantly.

I actually just "broke my base" recently which lightens up my base/roots. It's going to extend my highlights even more.

This is what I do. Saves time/money and looks great.

I am intrigued... can you explain more what "broke my base" means? Does it mean you get a single process on just your roots before you get the highlights? I'd love to try something that would extend my highlights longer!
