Hunter Boots
While shoveling I noticed someone wearing Hunter boots ( tall glossy ones - I gather the rain boots). Can these be warm enough to wear in the snow? I noticed that I will probably need new snow boots next year and also need new rain boots. Is it possible to wear these as rain boots and snow boots? Is there special insulation you add to make them warm? I was originally thinking to just get warm Sorel winter boots/ snow shoes for the snow and the Hunters for the rain.
Thoughts / suggestions?

Re: Hunter Boots
I have them and would not wear them in the snow - wayyyyy too cold. I imagine even with the fleece liners they would still be too cold. I would get separate snow boots to rain boots.

Hunter Boots
I wore them last year in the cold and snow and I will never do it again. I did have on the woolly sock inserts and my feet were frozen. I also slipped and almost fell several times. My opinion, don't get them as winter boots. They are good for when its raining and that's it. I got a pair of North Face boots for the cold and snow.

Hunter Boots
I love my hunters for rain but would never wear them for snow even with the warmer inserts. I'd go with your first thought and get 2 separate pairs

Re: Hunter Boots
Even with the inserts, they are not warm enough to keep your feet warm in these cold temps. Plus, I find them to be VERY slippery in the snow.

Re: Hunter Boots
They're just rubber boots - there is nothing inside. I don't HAVE snowboots at the moment, so I'm wearing them, and they're completely waterproof - but my feet FREEZE

Re: Hunter Boots
You need winter boots. I have a pair that are apparently not waterproof bc shoveling with all of those puddles yesterday morning my feet were soaked. I wore my Hunters for the rest of the day with socks AND inserts and while my feet were kept dry, they were freezing.

Re: Hunter Boots
They are definitely NOT snow boots but I only wear my "snow boots" that are not water proof the day it snows and my hunters for the days after. My feet do get sold sometimes but I am not out long enough for it to bother me.
