Using an OPK as a preg test!
So I'm freaking out a little because my period is over a week late and I'm trapped at home today with no car and I decided to use an OPK because I've heard that they pick up HCG since it's so similar to LH. Well, I got a smiley!
Now, I'm not going to let myself get too excited, but I'm getting really freaking excited! It wouldn't make sense for me to have an LH surge now, I know I ovulated already this month. But is there anything else that would cause me to get a smiley?
I tested with a real pregnancy test the day my period was due and got a BFN. I figured it was another month it wasn't going to happen and moved on. But still no period and I've been feeling really crampy, so I decided to pee on an OPK since I didn't have anything else to pee on. LOL.
Of all times for me to run out of HPTs!
For reasons that are too long to explain, I probably won't be able to get my hands on a real test until tomorrow!
Ugh!
Anyone offer any insight or experience with this.
Give me a reality check.

I never heard of this, but I'd be interested what happens when you do get a preg test! Goodluck!!!

It can absolutely happen. I've read several stories on here from women who've tested positive on an OPK and were actually pregnant. Good luck!

Yes it is true. When I was pregnant my OPKs came up positive. But they're not nearly as sensitive as regular HPTs and I'm guessing they're not as reliable either.
So that's a very promising sign, but definitely wait to confirm it on a hpt!

I've heard this to be true. Wondering if you tested. Hope you got your BFP!

Re: Using an OPK as a preg test!
Thank you everyone! It took us 18 months to conceive DC1 and now a little over a year for this one. We're really excited!
