1st time meeting Pediatric Neuro
So yesterday I took my daughter for the first time. I am not sure how to feel. He told me he doesnt like diagonsing right away for ADD or ADHD. Says he like to rule out learning disablitly or any other problems first. Check brain activity, and have a sleep study done since she is a bad sleeper. And that is fine with me, but he said he dont like giving that diagnosis until about 1st grade when the child starts maturing. Now I am getting nervous because what will happen at my CSE meeting when she doesnt fall into one of those "catergories" that would label her. Will she now have a problem getting into an intergrated Kindergatren class that the teacher wants her in. Will the teachers, and threapists word be enough? The teacher, myself, her dance teacher all know my DD has a short attention span and has to have several verbal prompts to get things done. The teacher believes she is ADD/ADHD. I dont want to see my daughter have to struggle when I know she needs the extra help. Me , My DH and teachers have to fill out the vanderbilt rating scale and send it back to him. So I am hoping that he will see we are all in agreement. Has anyone had their CSE meeting without a diagnosis and still recieved services in Kindergarten??

Once a diagnosis is given, it's VERY HARD to change it. I would just wait it out if you can. If you are getting services now Great. I would only worry if you lose services.
