Anyone transfer 4 embryos?

Just wondering: anyone ever transfer 4 embryos and if you did, what was the outcome?

The most I've ever transferred was 3 and it was my last frozen transfer at North Shore before switching to RSof NY. It didn't work. I had 1 day5, 1 day 4 and 1 day 3. They were transferred on day 3.

I transferred 3, which is a lot these days..2 took, one split into identicals, and now I have triplets. Be prepared for the remote possibility of them all taking and/or splitting (esp if you do ICSI and assisted hatching) and have an honest conversation with yourself about reduction before proceeding, and good luck :)

I do know someone who transferred 5....the ethicist at her hospital had to weigh in on it before they could proceed. This was my friend's third and final ivf, her last shot. She was willing to reduce down to a safe pregnancy in the rare event they all took - to her this was a better option than remaining child free. It resulted in a healthy singleton. Good luck!

I transferred 3 embryos on my first fresh IVF cycle. Technically, two took, but lost both of them; one at 6 weeks; the other one at 7.

Six months later; I did an FET and transferred the remaining 3 I had left; which resulted in a chemical.

These were all good quality embies, by the way. So much for that!

Here is why I ask. I have done plenty of IUI's, 1 IVF plus 3 FET transfers. Out of all, I had 2 pregnancies, both with early MC.

I have 4 day 5 embryos left and considering how this has all worked out, I don't have high hopes for any of them. Enduring two more FET's with more hope and loss just seems like a waste of time and money.

Maybe I am losing perspective....I just feel like I can't take much more of this self abuse, emotionally, physically and financially.

I've transferred one two and three embryos with BFN... With Dr. T if I do get to day 5 blasts, I will transfer 2 just because I don't want to keep doing this.

Now my friend who has been at IVF longer than me, has transferred 2,3 and even 4 embryos with BFN

Just did a cycle and transferred 2- one split and the other took so right now she is pregnant with triplets- so you never know with those embies. She is excited that she is finally pregnant but the idea of 3 scares her to death.

Make sure you and your husband have a serious talk about the possibilities.

I can't imagine 2 embryos becoming three, never mind what can happen with 4. I mean, what are the chances though considering how ****** its all worked out. But I suppose miracles do happen and I shouldn't take chances.

I am getting so tired and impatient and want to get to the end...but it would be silly now to jeopardize my future and the babies by putting all 4 in. Ugh, but if I do 3, I will have 1 left which is another FET.

This is all so frustrating!!!!!

I transfered 3 blasts with my last FET. My doctor put me on an expensive medication and I was not able to move on to a fresh cycle ( with the package I have) until I used up all my frosties. It is still early but everything has worked out so far. Only 1 decided to hang around.

Yes but they were poor quality. Was a BFN. We were prepared to do a selective reduction, though, had there been more than 2.

YES, all poor quality, none blastocysts.

I hear what you are saying.

If you have had so many FET that were unsuccessful, I would consider trying a fresh cycle elsewhere. Your Dr should have a "guess" as to why nothing is taking. I'd candidly ask him/her.

As for what to do with the frozens, that's always a tough one.

Personally, I know two people at work who had embryos split & had triplets after 2 were implanted.

I also know a close friend who had a complication with a twin pregnancy (her baby had the complication & it was really horrible).

I've changed what I personally would do... but this is personal.

All that being said... I had 2 transferred in my 1st IVF & only 1 transferred at a time after that. I did have failed FETs.

Thanks all for your insight. I think the bottom line is its very risky to do 4 and I am hearing a lot of stories of 2 that become 3, which I hadn't really thought of before.

I will proceed with 2 and just deal with it...no sense risking my life or the babies. Also, for me personally, I have decided I can't do selective reduction so 4 is not a good option.

Thanks all for helping me sort that out. I think it was desperation speaking yesterday.

I put back three and got a bfn, but they were poor quality.

After knowing how hard it is to care for one DC, I.might only put back 1 in the future. 2 would be the max. Not sure I could handle more than that.

my friend did (not the best of quality) and has two twin girls from that transfer.
