Anyone have an in-office hysteroscopy?

Curious to know if anyone has had one and what their experience was. The doc I consulted with at CCRM does it in the hospital under anesthesia and it is quite expensive.

I think I read somewhere that LIVF does it in office, and I'm assuming the fee would be much less. Would love to hear from someone who knows more!

Did you consult with Schoolcraft or someone else @ CCRM?

I have had multiple hysteroscopies, but the only in-office one was at CCRM during my one-day-work-up. He had a handheld camera probe thing and did it right in my exam room. I was nervous it would hurt, but it was nothing.

All the other times (around here) I was knocked out.

I did it, no big deal at all. I cramped a bit while they were doing the procedure but it was tolerable. No worse then an HSG if you had had that before.

I'm assuming with the in-office procedure, if they find something going on they have to fix it at a later date, right? They can't just laser a polyp or adhesions right there can they?

I saw Dr Davis at CCRM who I really like. He seems to be advising a more conservative path than Brenner at LIVF.

If either of you ladies would mind sharing with me how much the fee was for the in-office procedure, please FM me. I asked the billing woman at LIVF if she knew the charge and she said no.

Ahhhh, Dr. Davis is at Cornell; I guess they call themselves CRM. CCRM is the big muckity-muck out in Colorado. Dr. Davis did an operative hysteroscopy under anesthesia @ NY Presbyterian. And, yeah, if they see something, you'll have to go back in for a procedure. The in-office scope is diagnostic only.

Ah ok. I apologize for my misuse of acronyms! I thought Cornell was CCRM - Cornell Center for Reproductive Medicine. Whoops!

So CO is the place to go for infertility help? People come from all over?

Hi. I had one in the doctors office. The nurse held out a bucket in case I had to throw up in it. The procedure made me feel a little queasy. It hurt for a short time. If there was something they had to remove like a polyp, they could not do it at that time while I was awake. I was able to see everything on a screen. As the doctor did the procedure, he explained things to me. Some doctors from north shore and liivf were quite shocked that I was not put under for it and that I was awake. I had good insurance. I remember the charge on my insurance statement said it cost about 4000 dollars. When insurance covers things like that, I feel the price is inflated compared to someone who is self paying. Good luck with your procedure.

Yes, CCRM is the top clinic in the country and people come from all over the world for treatment. It's also more expensive than virtually everyone else, and I only ended up there because I had repeat IVF failure and was pulling my hair out over no good explanation.

But Dr. Davis Chat Icon He's my boo, so wonderful. He ultimately did not help me find success, but he did in one shot for my friend Erin after she spent 4 IVF cycles beating her head against a wall @ LIIVF. I ultimately left Cornell because my eggs were on the fragile side, and we were in the hail Mary stage, so we only considered the tippity-top labs in the country, which Cornell is not.

Regarding the scope, I had no idea they would still do the nips and tucks while awake. Mine (@CCRM) was diagnostic only and cost $600 OOP. Maybe some of these other ladies can help you find a local provider who will do it.

Anyone have an in-office hysteroscopy?

I had it done in office. I had no pain whatsoever but I had no blockages, etc.

Not sure about cost. We had insurance with a high deductible and paid whatever the negotiated rate was. (Def nowhere near 4k).

I had one done in office and OMG! was it painful. After I left I ended up throwing up in the parking lot.

ETA: sorry not sure about the cost. My insurance covered everything.

VeeJay - was the pain comparable to any other test you've had? I did fine with th HSG but not so good with the endometrial biopsy.

No unfortunately it was a lot worse. If I remember right, they had to dilate me to get the scope in and that was incredibly painful.

I just had one done in office about two weeks ago, it was uncomfortable but doable. Funny feeling once they are in there but it was at most 10 minutes, 20 for the whole procedure. They had to dialate my cervix as well to get the scope in, light spotting for a day or two after but other than that it wasn't bad at all. I took aleeve after because it's a little more than period cramps. One more check off the list! I was fully awake no anesthesia needed.

I did. The pain was bad. I also had an endo biopsy at the same time. It was all very painful but I made it through as usual. You can do it but just expect for it to be uncomfortable and painful. I hate anesthesia so I guess I had no choice. GL
