Food for derby party
The Kentucky Derny is always our kick off to BBQ season party. We normally do mint juleps, but regular bbq food. I'm thinking of trying to be more themed with the food this year. But I still want to keep it fairly simple since we usually have 15-20 people. Maybe even some dishes I can mostly prepare ahead of time. So far I'm thinking bourbon marinated pork tenderloin and some sort of shrimp and grits type dish. Any suggestions?

Re: Food for derby party
I'd still do the juleps, but you could also make sweet tea or a bourbon punch.
For appetizers you could do something with shrimp or chicken wings. You could also do a cheese and bread appetizer.
For a main dish, I would do a pork tenderloin and something with crab and/or lobster.
For side dishes, grits or collard greens or corn muffins.
