Best Feature of Your Home
We will be gutting and adding a second story to our new home and met with the architect to get started. We have 2 DS and he said he could make a secret passageway between their rooms which I thought was so cool! It made me think of all the other things that might be possible but I am just not even thinking about. Please share something that you love about your home. I would love to see all the ideas. Thanks!!

Double entry doors. It's an impressive look to a house, and it makes moving large items (couches, dressers, refrigerators, etc) in and out of the house much easier.

Re: Best Feature of Your Home
That sounds so cool!
Our best feature is probably our master bedroom with a walk in closet, laundry room and nice big bathroom. It isn't really unique like a secret passage but its nice lol

Best Feature of Your Home
A whole wall of built in bookcases- it fits all of my books and is a main reason I chose this house. I know DH wants a laundry chute too- this way dirty laundry can be dumped down from the second floor bathroom and wind up next to the washer/dryer in the basement!

Best Feature of Your Home
When we bought our house, we made a doorway between the master bedroom and the bedroom next to it then converted the smaller bedroom into my dressing room - it has a wall of shelves for shoes that also has a TV built into it. We built 2 big closets in the room and it also has a vanity for doing my hair and makeup. We also doubled the size of the master bathroom (it was SUPER tiny before so it's not huge now, but it is a normal size). I love that we have a master "suite" with the bathroom on one side and my dressing room on the other.

Re: Best Feature of Your Home
I'd say our master bedroom/bathroom/changing room. Like the prior poster, we converted a room into a walk in coset/changing room and we both love it. Also, many people comment that they like that we have a separate 'room' for the toilet in the master suite.
Basically, we turned the old walk in closet into a half bath with vanity and toilet, then the old master bath was gutted and now has a tub and separate stand up shower and double vanity, and then you go down steps into the closet/changing room.

Re: Best Feature of Your Home
I love having an above-grade den (I have a split) with a half bath for guests, and a fireplace.
We use that room so much, and in the winter, we make a fire the majority of the nights and just relax, watch tv, play board games, etc. It's just a great space to have for parties (it flows out to the backyard, too), and I like having a more formal living room and a finished basement as a playroom, so my den is a true "family room" for hanging out, but not cluttered with a zillion toys. One of my high wish list priorities when I bought a home was to have a den/family room (beyond just the basement), and it turned out to be one of the most (probably THE most, except the kitchen) utilized rooms in our house.
The wood-burning fireplace was a more minor wish-list feature but we get so much use and enjoyment out of it every day, and it contributes to the atmosphere of our winter parties and holiday gatherings. And it was a life-saver during the cold days after Hurricane Sandy with no power/heat.

Best Feature of Your Home
We have a gas fireplace and I love it, the wall is all stone so it looks nice but also it warms the downstairs so much in the winter and no mess like a real fireplace

Re: Best Feature of Your Home
I've owned three homes and I have seen many others so I'll just go by what I've had and seen...
Gas Fireplace
Crown molding
Under-cabinet lighting in the kitchen
Soft close drawers
French Doors
High-hats on dimmers
Built-In book shelves
Vaulted Ceilings
Porches
Radiant heated floors
If bedrooms are on the second floor having the laundry room up there so that your laundry never has to go up/down stairs.
Bay windows
Plantation shutters

Re: Best Feature of Your Home
My master bedroom was really the selling feature for me when buying our house. It's very large with vaulted ceilings with two large wooden beams. We added a chandelier. It has french doors that open to a little balcony overlooking the backyard and we have a fire place in the room. I love all of it.

Re: Best Feature of Your Home
My favorite, even though its so mundane, we have a GIANT walk in closet/pantry. Could not live without it.
