Vent: I am LIVID! Bloodwork/Lab related
At my last appointment, I got a Rx for the 2 hour GTT and other bloodwork to be done before my next appointment which is scheduled for May 15. 2 weeks ago, I scheduled an appointment at Labcorp for this morning at 10am and specifically said it was for the GTT and other pregnancy related bloodwork. I got to LabCorp in Islandia at 9:55, signed in, indicated I had an appointment, and sat down for 30 minutes before they called me in. I handed the woman my paperwork and she saw that it was for the GTT and she said I WAS TOO LATE because they close at 12. WTF??? I was there! 5 mins early no less! How is it my fault that they called me in so late? I was already annoyed that I was so hungry from fasting for the past 12 hours (which is cruel to make a pregnant woman do lol) and they wouldn't even take me in. Why let me make the appointment if you can't accommodate it? Never again will I go to any Labcorp location. I made an appointment at Sunrise Labs for Tuesday and now I have to go to work late and DH has to go to work late in order to take DD to daycare. I tried to avoid all of that by making a Saturday appointment! 
Off to find something carby to eat.

When you signed in did you tell the front desk you were there for the glucose test. Only cause in the past if you dont them right then and there, they dont realize till its too late! its happened to me and friends of mine. I was livid sorry that happened to you

I was at labcorp this morning too, for the 1 hour. I just grabbed a bagel !! she informed me that should I have to take a 3 hour, to physically come in the office to make an apt. there were other people there who had made appts through the 1800 # and they were not getting there scheduled time which is wrong. hope the next time goes smoothly for u!

Sorry for what you went through, but when you first get there(remember doing this when pregnant 11yrs ago) when you sign in you have to tell them you are there for GTT so they can give you the drink right then and there. With my DD and this pregnancy it was done in my OB office(much easier).

They couldn't give me the drink as soon as I got there bc they still had to draw the fasting number.
I didn't tell them when I got there bc I just figured they had my appointment info. Guess not!

So sorry you had to deal with this! So frustrating. As a side note, I hate both LabCorp and Sunrise Labs -- had multiple bad experiences at both. If your insurance accepts it, I would go to a North Shore/LIJ lab. Not sure where you are located but I love the one on Hicksville Road, right off Hempstead Tpke in the H.R. Singletons shopping center (think its considered Bethpage???) The people who work there are great, professional, and kind, not to mention its ridiculously hard to get blood from me and no one at that location has ever had to prick me more than once!

That's ridiculous. They should have taken you. I always went to sunrise for all my bloodwork, never needed an appointment it was always walk in.
