Children's Health Insurance - HELP!

So if i go through my job for adding my child to my insurance plan, it will cost approx $500/month extra. I was told by a co-worker that NY state had really great coverage at a low cost but when I looked online, it was still around $380/month and the "bronze" level with very high deductibles, etc.

My salary is too high to qualify for anything unfortunately, but that doesn't mean I am able to toss around money!!!

Does anyone have any suggestions? Please help share your ideas.

I know, it's crazy... Obamacare hasn't helped anything.

I'd most likely just add on through your work insurance because it's easier that way.

Most plans will probably be about $500 extra with kids on it... even if you try to get on your own. Child Health Plus and others really take into account your salary. Once you're earning over their baseline, it's not cheap for the quality of service you're getting... plus those are usually HMOs. So I'd stick with your work insurance. It's probably a better plan.

Have you looked into the Child Health Plus. I had to do it for my kids and while I don't make an extremely high salary it is up there especially for Long Island.
They made me pay the maximum allowable for each child and I believe I only paid 120.00 per month for all 3...and it's full on coverage. You might want to at least check it doesn't hurt.
