Teen guy - HS dance

My 17 yr old SS has his Junior class dance this weekend. It is not a prom. It is held at the school. His date is wearing a pretty, black, lacy (short) dress. What do you think would be appropriate for him to wear - dress pants, shirt & tie? All of that with a vest? A suit? (he has s suit but it doesn't "match" her dress, so he doesn't want to wear it lol). He is a kid who likes to get dressed up and look nice, so that part's not an issue - just wondering what would be good for the type of event. Any pics of specific looks would be greatly appreciated too!

What are his friends wearing? Does he know anyone who went last year?

In my HS, the girls wore short dresses to the JR prom & long to the senior prom. Everyone just sort of knew that was the thing to do.

Not really looking to break the bank for a HS dance in the school cafeteria - BB is a little out of our $$ range!

I wouldn't suggest Brooks Brothers for a teen.

H&M, Zara or Express would be my suggestion.

I would do a jacket with a nice shirt and slim pants. Or a suit with a skinny tie, that seems to be the trend these days.

My nephew just went to a junior dance. He wore dress pants, dress shirt, vest & bow tie. He said that most of the boys were wearing that.

I'd say Kohl's or H&M. H&M is a little funkier, Kohl's is safer. But I personally love the vest and bow tie look.
