Short Luteal Phase - how do you know? (xpost)

My regular cycle is on the short side (about 24 days) - does this also necessarily mean I have a short luteal phase? I have a pretty short AF (usually 2-3 days - never longer) so I'm wondering if this MIGHT mean my luteal phase could be a normal length? Sorry if this is a stupid question!

Pretty sure I didn't even ovulate last month (it was my first month off BC in 15 years) but now my cycle seems to be back to the way it was pre-BC... so, I have NOT used an OPK, but will next month if we're not successful this month.

You won't know unless you know what day you ovulate.

As pp said, you really won't be able to tell unless you track, either with OPK or temping. Good luck!

The best way to find out would be to use OPKs. If you think your LP is a normal length even though your cycle is shorter, you might just be ovulating early. I'd start testing 2 or 3 days after the end of your period. I know it adds up, but the wondfo OPKs are pretty cheap and have worked for me- though I know some say they have trouble reading them. Test in the afternoon at the same time everyday- I usually do it around 3:00 PM.

Ty! I have to run to target at lunch anyway so maybe I'll pick one up. I'm cheap as hell and was hoping to avoid spending the $15 Chat Icon

The length of your cycle isn't necessarily an indication of a short LP. I always had a cycle of about 30-31 days, very regular. So I assumed I ovulated right around day 14/15. The month I got pregnant with DS, which was the first month I used an OPK, I ovulated at CD 19. I was surprised. It's still in the "normal" range but definitely on the short side. You never really know until you test, as the other girls have said. So I would definitely spring for some tests just to get a better idea what's going on. GL!

I had the same revelation last month. I went off BC after many years of off and on earlier this year and was surprised that I suddenly had 24-25 day cycles while I used to have 28. I'm almost 35 so this may be the reason it changed. The last two months, I used OPKs and determined that I ovulated Day 16 & Day 17 of my cycle and got AF on Day 24 and Day 25. I started taking B Complex (with 100 mg of B6) supplements so we'll see how they work. I spoke to my doctor about this last week and instead of waiting to see what happens, she wants me to come in to do some testing next week.

Once you know when you O'ed, you can start taking action, if you need to!

I have to get the OPK I guess. I have no clue when I ovulate. I know some ppl "feel" it, but I guess I'm not really that in tune w/my body lol

I used OPK's and temped for close to 2 years and I still wouldn't be able to tell you when or if I did.

If you have Amazon prime, look into getting them through subscribe and save. Might be cheaper.

You can buy them (and also pregnancy tests) at Dollar Tree for $1. I never used their OPK's but their pregnancy test gave me a faint positive at the same time that I got an equally faint positive on the First Response Early Detection (or whatever it's called).
