Diagnosis/treatment for short luteal phase or low progesterone?
Has anyone gotten treated by their doctor for short luteal phase and/or low progesterone? I'm going to call & ask for a progesterone test, but if it turns out to be low, what do they prescribe? Natural or synthetic progesterone? Creams or injections? Any other tests they'd do other than a blood test? What else can I expect? Any information you can give me will be very helpful!!

You should get a blood test at 7dpo. You SHOULD NOT get a synthetic progesterone, only natural. Different doctors prescribe different things. I use suppositories, some women get pills that they use like suppositories.

I have luteal phase defect..my LP is too short as well.. RE put me on clomid w/trigger shot to ovulate and then IUI.
I don't have the progesterone issue though.

from what i have read, it's possible that progesterone and LP issues can be two different things - i have a short LP but i had no trouble conceiving ( i took b-complex vitamin to try and lengthen it but i honestly have no idea if it worked b/c i got PG my first full month on it). i also had no trouble holding onto the pregnancy. good luck!

Natural treatments are vitamin B6 and progesterone cream. Medical treatments are Clomid and progesterone suppositories. A blood test in the LP can detect a progesterone deficit. HTH!
