thoughts on a home located across from a park....

There is a home that we were thinking of going to see, but it is located across from a medium sized park. There is no playground, its close to town, but its completely open with no fencing. Any events held there end by 8:30.....I'm not sure how I feel about it.

I would be worried about parking and drugs. I would go to the house at night and on the weekend both daytime and at night. If there are any events scheduled I would go to see what it is like.

My friends house is next door to a public park with a huge swing set apparatus. They love it. Their only complaint is that parking on the cul de sac can be difficult for guests when it is a nice day.

thoughts on a home located across from a park....

DH and I just purchased a home across from a fairly large park. There are little league games there almost every night. The entrance is not on our street, the park is fenced in and has a huge parking lot. There was one day that people parked in front of our home out of the month we have been there. Noise isn't so bad but we have CAC so we keep the window closed. Only thing that's annoying are the big lights that could light our whole home if we didn't have curtains. Luckily our bedroom is on the opposite side of the house from the park. All things to try and check for.

I agree with pp, drive by on the weekends and weekday afternoons (during the school year).

The park that DS plays soccer games at has cars flooded onto surrounding streets because there is not enough parking. Some of the neighbors put up traffic cones to prevent people from parking in front of their house.

I grew up across the street from a huge park and my parents still live there. I loved being able to walk my dog, go running, etc. I was never aware of any drug issues.

This is in Queens so the parking is eh to begin with because most homes only have 1 car garages/driveways. I guess this isn't the case on LI, but in this particular area of Queens proximity to the park is VERY desirable!

We have a park right behind our house. There are goods and bads. I never have to worry about taking DS to a park to play because it's right out my back door.

Cons. We had drugs being sold in the park. I was villi gent about calling the police and it has stopped.

We have a park across the street. As an every day thing, it's really no problem. And they playground is a tot lot so it was great when my kids were young. They even participated in programs right across the street when they were in preschool. The downside is when they have events. They do a huge Halloween party and my block is a complete madhouse. Other events are smaller and more manageable. There are no drug issues that I ever see. I have never seen teenagers in the playground. If anything, they congregate in the back of the parking lot, but it doesn't really bother me.

I wouldn't mind it.

Sometimes it could be better than nosey neighbors living across the street watching your every move. So I'll take the open field. Chat Icon

Re: thoughts on a home located across from a park....

I have a park behind me. the entrance runs a long my driveway.
Horrible.

Summer brings kids. loud, drinking, smashing bottles, drugs.
every yr. it brings a new crowd. some good, some bad.

Just this am, at 4:45 a group on young boys walked through loudly and stayed at end of entrance/ my driveway and talked for 20 min..laughing and loud.

Finally my DH said out window, run along, its 5am...you are loud and the disrespectful punk told him, its time to wake up buddy. want me to get you MCdonalds for BK?

THIS is what we deal with.
