Starting to expand our search, talk to me about east islip.

We've been pretty set on moving to Sayville, problem is there is not much out there on the market.....we've been looking for almost a year! I've started to look at areas around sayville and found east islip schools are ranked pretty high. It seems you get a little more for your money there as well. Anyone live in the area, do you like it?

Love the area.

Rented there about 12yrs ago. My daughter graduated from the HS.

When my Ex and I were looking to buy in 2004 we looked there and would've stayed but we couldn't find anything in our budget.

I graduated with her daughter lol!

My grandparents started out there in country village and so did my husbands family.

We were raised there, went to school there..I have family that still resides and pretty much most of my school friends are raising their families there.

Yeah if you like Sayville look into East Islip, West Islip, Oakdale, Bayport/Bluepoint.

That whole area is nice and similar to Sayville. With good schools. GL!

Re: Starting to expand our search, talk to me about east islip.

Purchased our first home in East Islip 3 years ago in the Country Village Section. I have no complaints about the town, its always clean, very safe. I can't comment on the schools because my son is only 2, but I have neighbors with children in the school system and they all seem to be happy.

We also were looking in Sayville, but like you mentioned, inventory was always minimal. And when something good and fairly priced came on the market, it was gone in a day...so we re-directed to surrounding towns. I wanted to to be in a smaller school district, stay on the south shore and not move too far east due to our work commutes to Melville. So East Islip was the best option for us.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to FM me :)

We bought in Oakdale. Anywhere between East Islip and Sayville were high on our list. East Islip is great!

East Islip is great. I'm in West Islip and have been for 10 years. We're very happy here. Great sense of community, good schools, reasonably priced homes (for LI standards, anyway). Definitely look into West Islip, too.

We have been here for 6 years now and so happy. I didn't even know "regular" islip existed lol. I knew of east, west, islip terrace etc but never knew of the town islip and I am so happy we bought here. I am a teacher and the principal of my school lives in islip and his children go to islip school and he raves about it so that makes me very happy.

Starting to expand our search, talk to me about east islip.

Our search area included Sayville/West Sayville/Bayport and Blue Point. We looked in East Islip but wasn't crazy about the areas in our price point (we wanted more of the small town feel and didn't get that vibe). Then we looked in Oakdale and there are some cute neighborhoods there also. There are a bunch of houses for sale in my area (W.Sayville area). But I know what you mean about the limited inventory, we searched for at least 6 months before something came along.
