Tips on how to keep my pregnancy a secret

I have my friends Bachelorette party this coming weekend and I don't want to get called out for not drinking. We're hoping to AC for the night. We'll be pool side drinking all day (not looking forward to since I'm so bloated and don't want to be in a bikini) then bar/casino at night. The next day will be brunch then heading home.

They know we were trying. The bride is someone who would think a pregnancy was done to steal her thunder, seriously. So obviously I don't want it to come out and I'm only 7 weeks.

Pretend you are drinking... You can always get the drinks too so no one really thinks anything! And you can also tell the bar tender that you're pregnant and don't wanna tell anyone yet so if you're all at the bar for a shot he can give you one of water or something! Good luck! It shouldn't really be that hard to hide!

Re: Tips on how to keep my pregnancy a secret

you could say you've given up drinking while you are trying, just to be safe and be at your healthiest. or even say you're in your 2 week wait and dont want to drink until you test in a few weeks. but then they may be asking in 2 weeks lol.

i would tell them ahead of time so you're not put on the spot Chat Icon

Say you have a stomach bug? Or you are on medication for a sinus infection?

Or fake drink I am the queen of it. Order wine and just take a few sips. Dump it when no ones looking. Everyone else will prob be drinking more than you and hopefully tipsy and won't even notice!

Last option is to not go. Not sure if you want to so that but you can say you are sick.

Pretend you're drnking. Don't even try making an excuse for not drnking, nobody would believe it espec if they knew you were trying.

Do you have one friend there that can "help"? I was always able to fake drink when I had a friend on my side to chug a drink quickly or order me a seltzer and cranberry. You can always head to the bathroom with your beer, dump it out and refill it with water.

For my sister's bachelorette one of her friends was pg but not out yet. She told everyone she was ok antibiotics. Nobody believed her but nobody called her out. It was her right to come out when she was ready and same with you. Don't stress just go and have fun. If someone is nervy to call you out on it just stick to the meds excuse.

This is what I did. All my friends knew that we were trying so I told them I was in my 2 week window and would be testing within the next few days and just wanted to be on the safe side. I think most friends (who are tactful) wouldn't go out of their way to ask you if you tested or not -- they'd just wait for you to tell them the good news if that's what ended up happening. Have fun!

Re: Tips on how to keep my pregnancy a secret

I used to have to go to work events all the time when pregnant and I didn't reveal until 6 months or so.

I would usually get there early and make friends with the bartender. Several bartenders knew I was pregnant before work! Chat Icon

I would tell them to make me club sodas with limes and say they were vodka sodas.

It worked great.

One day, as I was leaving, my former boss accidently took my drink, sipped it, and said- damn this is strong!

I know it's not exactly the same but I had a wedding at 8w and I just got club soda or sprite with a lime. I have celiac so I can't drink beer anyway so none suspected anything.

If you go with the "we're in our 2ww", see if your "period" is due around the wedding and fake that too. Bring tampons with you and pretend. I did this and people were a little more surprised when their suspicions were shot down and ended up being right.

If they knew you were trying, there isn't an excuse in the world they'll buy. Fake drink and buy a sarong to wear over your bikini. I don't know if you have any MS, but if you do- built in hangover!

I was really on meds & couldn't drink.
You can tell them you are on meds trying to get Preggo. That's the least effort.

I'm in the same boat! Bachelorette party next weekend and I'm the maid of honor! I was planning on just making a virgin version of everything I made for the girls and hoping they were just too drunk to notice!! Good luck and let me know how it goes :)

Yupp, and then claim your hangover as the reason you can't drink much the next day!

Thanks girls! I went to the city the other night and got away with waters with a lime so hopefully that'll do this time around.

This was what I did - we went away to a friend's grad school graduation party when I was just 8 weeks. They all knew but, didn't say anything to my face (just amongst themselves).

Re: Tips on how to keep my pregnancy a secret

I was out at a restaurant with friends. I got up to go to the bathroom and let the waitress in on my secret. I asked her to keep bringing me virgin drinks the whole meal without making it obvious (different glass or something). I slipped her $10 on my way out to thank her for the help.

I know others who have done this at bars.

What is your usual drink of choice? While we were trying I switched to drinks that were easy to cover up. Cranberry Vodka - Cranberry & Seltzer or Cranberry & Gingerale. Vanilla Vodka & Gingerale - just Gingerale.

At a wedding last summer DH drank my champagne and wine whenever people weren't looking.

Is there one friend you can trust to let in on your secret. That was the other thing I did last summer. When DH wasn't around my friend helped me cover. Getting drinks for me, drinking my alcoholic drink when no one was looking, etc.

Also if they know your trying you can say you don't want to drink to much as you've been trying to get pregnant. A lot of women don't drink at all during TTC.
