DS will be starting kindergarten with a sub
And I'm pissed! Not only did I not get the teacher I wanted, I just got a letter saying that they have narrowed it down to three candidates, but still haven't hired anyone. So my child's first "real" school experience is going to start with a sub for who knows how long, until they hire someone. As if kindergarten isn't enough of a transition. I don't know whether to scream or cry.

Terrible. Your school district should have made better plans to hire a new teacher over the summer.
Good news, young kids adapt quickly and will just fine.

WOW, that is some bull crap. There are plenty of teachers that need jobs and they couldn't find a great one in time?? Strange.

What could have happened is they didnt have enough kids enroll for K in time to open another class. Say 3 kids moved into the district and registered later, that may have required an additional class be opened up and therefore had a last minute position.

Re: DS will be starting kindergarten with a sub
No, what happened was, the teacher my DS was supposed to have was transferred to another school as a kindergarten dual language teacher. Apparently the change happened a solid month ago and when they posted the position initially they put it up as a leave replacement and got very little response. So they changed it to a regular teaching position and got a lot more qualified teachers. They did interviews last week and have three teachers coming in to demo this week. Hopefully they will gave a new teacher in place in the next two weeks.
