Maternity Clothes
Thanks to some bloat, and despite the fact that apparently my baby is the size of a sesame seed, NONE of my pants/jeans fit. NONE. I actually own about 8-10 maxi skirts... but I really need pants. How soon did you all make the foray into maternity clothes? I feel like its way too soon for me (I'm only 6 weeks) but I'm not sure what else to do, b/c I don't want to buy clothes one size bigger that I might only wear for a month.

Re: Maternity Clothes
What about a bella band? They sell one in Target. That saved me for a LONG time.
That and putting a hair elastic through my pants' button hole to extend it.
I didn't buy/wear maternity jeans and pants until about 20-25 weeks

Re: Maternity Clothes
I have one one right now (a different kind - the target one didnt fit me right) but it keeps riding up! I sit town, and suddenly its up around my waist! Ughhhh!! And the one I have actually buttons onto your pants, and still its riding up!

Once the bloat goes away, it takes awhile to actually "show". Especially if this is your first (not sure if it is)
The Bella band was kind of annoying yes, with the riding up.
I also liked the old fashion hair tie through the button hole!

Re: Maternity Clothes
With dd 1 I was about 20 weeks. With dd2, about 15 weeks. Maternity pants are super comfortable, but people may be able to tell you are wearing them. I found that I needed to wear maternity tops with them because they are longer and hide the seam on the pants from the pant leg part to the belly stretch part, and that was a dead giveaway that I was pregnant. Could you get away with leggings and longer tunics for a few more weeks?

Re: Maternity Clothes
Also, when you do buy maternity pants and jeans, I liked the ones that just had an elastic waist that went UNDER my belly. I never wore the ones with the big stretch panel that went over.
The elastic waist ones are easier to hide. And I just hated ANYTHING over my belly. I still do to this day. I have to wear everything with a lower waist. Drives me nuts to have anything on my stomach for some reason

Re: Maternity Clothes
I was soooo bloated at 6 weeks. I would have to unbutton my pants at work by midday. I swtched over to maternity pants at about 10 weeks

Re: Maternity Clothes
Its awful. I woke up at 4am crying b/c I had such bad cramps that I was MCing, but I was really just bloated and constipated! Today I look 6 months pregnant, and I'm don't want ppl at work to know, so I'm wearing a maxi skirt w/a stupidly loose top. Suck.

Re: Maternity Clothes
First pregnancy, around 12 weeks. I was so much more comfortable than trying to finagle stretching my regular pants waistband somehow. Plus you will get more use out of them! Whatever you're comfortable in...
Old Navy has a new style I noticed this time around that has elastic on the sides so the waist stretches easier. I tried them but they didn't stay up well. I prefer full panel pants myself, so you'll figure out what fits and looks best.

Re: Maternity Clothes
The first time around I was able to get away with my regular clothes until closer to 16wks. The 2nd time around prob closer to 10 wk. the 3rd time I didn't screw around I went into maternity clothes immediately. SO comfortable. It's not worth the struggle IMO. You'll feel better lol

Maternity Clothes
I find maternity pants very annoying until you have a belly to hold them up. Even now at 23 weeks they are constantly sliding down! I wore the belly band with my regular pants until about 16 weeks.

Re: Maternity Clothes
I wore a few maternity bottoms very early on bc I had horrible bloat. I looked 5 months preggo VERY early bc of it. I had a few pairs of maternity leggings from my last pregnancy, so I LIVED in those for a few weeks. Then somewhere around 16-18 weeks, the bloat dissapeared and my belly went WAY down to the point I could wear my regular pants for a few weeks. I am currently 23w and just now getting back into maternity pants full time. I'm telling you..a few pairs of Old Navy maternity leggings will work wonders for you! They aren't that expensive and if you are a leggings person...you'll get plenty of use out of them the rest of your pregnancy.
