What to buy/wear for that pre-maternity clothes time (esp. newly preggo teachers and fall shoppers)

This is the time when I'd be shopping for back-to-school clothes, but I need some suggestions/advice. I'm not ready for maternity clothes yet (I'm almost 11 weeks) but I have a feeling that the stuff I wore last year won't fit. I know lots of ladies swear by the Bella band, but I just think I'd be weirded out by having my pants undone, even with that thing on. I'd hate to buy stuff in a bigger size that I will only wear for a few weeks.

I would buy some bigger sizes, because not only will you use them now, but you will probably use them after the baby is born, before you lose all the weight. You don't have to get anything too $$$, get a few pairs of work pants in Target or Marshall's.
Also, many maternity pants are made for the early stages of pregnancy and then can be adjusted to get bigger. You may want to look into that as well. You may even be able to find some summer stuff on sale that will easily work for fall.

I know I overdid and bought maternity clothes (FIGURING AS A TEACHER I HAD TO BE WELL DRESSED!) - and didnt use them until 7 months, which for me was summertime anyway! The pants I bought a size up I wore for three months of school and then switched to skirts....not sure if its an option but just buy a few reg size a- line skirts if you are not really showing still (works for the fall!)...this way, you can wear them after pregnancy too! (because they are a line, they won't really stretch either!) Otherwise i recommend you going with pieces that can mix and match for new looks! good luck!

Also, I know it varies from person to person but I listened to people and bought a size up in maternity wear - and shouldn't have....even at 9 months now, I still wear a xs/s - and am not comfy in the mediums I bought for some clothes....so don't get too ahead of yourself in thinking you will get "big" (at least thats what I learned!)A

I am so with you! I'm only 7 weeks, but a lot of my pants are going to be too tight for September! I feel like its too early to be buying maternity pants right now though, and maybe I should just buy the next size up in regular pants. I guess this is going to get expensive!!!!

At the end of last school year I was growing out of my regular sizes. So, I bought one size up and was pretty much in them throughout the whole summer. As they said before you will need them after also so it is a good investment.

I am living in one-piece wrap stretch dresses. Don't need to worry about maching tops and bottoms, looks put-together for work, and so comfy on your belly!!!!!!!

Ugh. I am having such a hard time with this. I am so broke from not working over the summer but I know a lot of my regular clothes will not fit me correctly. I am 15 weeks now and just starting to show a little. I know that Old Navy and Gap Maternity have clothes for the early months. I actually bought some maternity things pretty early on but they are more like tank tops, t-shirts, things with a little more room to spare. I'd suggest buying some early maternity pieces and a few inexpensive regular pieces in a larger size. That's what got me through the summer.

Buy the pants that have the regular waistband with buttons, but the elastic in the back. You'll find that they'll come in handy for after you have the baby, too. Like for me, I was pregnant spanning all last school year, and now that I still don't fit into my pre-prego clothes, those starter style maternity pants look like regular pants, so I don't need to go buy all new clothes until I lose my baby weight.

I lived in elastic waist skirts for the last month of school. I felt put together and was still comfy.
Drawstring pants were good too and will fit after the baby.

This summer I bought some things that are a size or two up. I bought skirts, though, because I can wear them after the baby and when I lose the weight I can have someone take them in a bit at the waist.

I just ordered some maternity things from the Gap last night, though, so I have them on hand. I am deathly afraid of waking up one day and realizing that I have nothing that fits (that I didn't wear the day before).

I was a normal medium prepregnancy. When I was the same week you currently are I bought all of my stuff in maternity large so that I could wear it throughout my whole pregnancy. To be honest...I am at 7 months and its lasted this long. I dont really plan to buy too much more at this point.
