I grew up in a high ranch, we had a keypad in both the upstairs and downstairs hallway.

We use the back as our primary entrance, so one at that door, one in the basement at the door to the garage in case we drive in and we have one in the bedroom so if it gets set off in the night we can see what zone it is and take action from there.

My parents have 3 key pads - one by the front door, one by the garage door, and one in their bedroom.

I grew up in a Hi Ranch and the key pad was right by the front door. But we could have really used one at the back door too.

We have one at the front door and one at the downstairs entrance through the garage. We had just the front door for a while and then added in the garage entrance since we the garage most of the time.

I have a high ranch but my front door isn't ground level. It's up a few stairs. My keypad is in the entry way. So it's quick. To turn off if I come in the front door or the garage (ground level)
