How Many IVF Cycles Before Success?
My DH and I have been trying for 3 years. After 5 unsuccessful IUI cycles we are doing IVF. I think I am only up for doing 1 try of IVF. How many tries did it take for you to be successful? Any input appreciated, thanks.

How Many IVF Cycles Before Success?
We were unexplained. I did 6 IUIs all negative. 2 IVFs and 1 FET all Negative or chemicals. My RE thought I would have gotten pregnant with IUIs so I was very surprised and heartbroken that even IVF didn't work for me. Then switched REs and found a possible diagnosis and had a new protocol. That was my 3rd IVF and 1st with that RE and got pregnant. Finally. I have an almost 1 year old. So it took a very long time but it was all worth it. Hang in there. If you have any questions FM me. Everyone has a limit. It wasn't easy. It was brutal but I had a goal in mind. I knew I HAD to be a mom. The third IVF and my new RE were my last hope. Luckily for me it worked. If you would of asked me if I thought I would have needed 3 IVFs I would of said no way but I just kept on going. Hopefully yours works on the first round!

For DC 1, I went straight to IVF. My Doctor was prepared to try IUIs, but due to insurance coverage we all agreed that it might be best to go straight to IVF. While our fertilization report was low, we did get pregnant on the first shot.
For DC 2, I was prepared to do some IUIs first, but after getting 2 opinions, they both encouraged going straight to IVF based on our low fertilization report the first time around.

you know what..dont doubt yourself. I was so set against IVF b/c in my head I had pictured it to be something terrible. like months and months of drugs, etc. when in reality it was like 10 days of injections. in the end, the injections was a piece of cake, compared to the emotional aspect of it. is IVF hard? Hell yeah. but you will get through it. and you might find you will have it in you to do it more than once.
you wont know your limits until you try.
im starting round two soon. Round one led to a chemical. so I take some faith in that the embie started to attach itself, but it just wasnt as a good an embie as I thought.
I had nothing left to freeze so I have to stim all over again.

DD#1 - 1st IVF BFP 
TTC #2
Fresh IVF cycle - Chemical
FET - M/C 6 weeks
Took break for 2 years
Fresh cycle - BFP due in April
ETA: I was so so scared of IVF the first time. . Honestly though, it went by so fast and the anticipation for me was much much worse than the actual procedure. Good luck

How Many IVF Cycles Before Success?
We have severe MFI. We had to use my DH's frozen sperm due to chemotherapy. It took 3 rounds of IVF. For the third round, we changed clinics. It was literally our last shot. I didn't have it in me emotionally to do another round. We now have a 19 month old DS.
If we try for DC 2, I will only try IVF one more time. The procedure itself isn't bad, but it's definitely an emotional roller coaster.

Thank you for your replies. Hoping it takes one try as that is all I have in me. I almost talked myself out of doing it at all today. If I think about it too much I won't pursue it at all. One try to give it a shot and then I'm done.

How Many IVF Cycles Before Success?
DH had count and motility issues with sperm. We did 4 IUI's - 2 natural and 2 with Clomid - BFN on all 4. We did 1 fresh IVF, transferred (1) 3 day embryo and we currently have a beautiful, healthy 7 month old DD! I used Dr. Brenner and Dr. Kenigsburg at LI IVF. Good luck!

You wont really know how long you can do it until you actually start. I wouldnt give yourself a limit or a max (unless its an insurance thing).

I agree with this.. I've done 2 fresh cycles both unsuccessful, we are starting our 3rd round next month.. I didn't think I had 1 round in me at first but honestly it's not as horrible as you think it is. Once you start the process you'll see quickly that all the hype is exactly that.. just hype

I was unexplained. I did one IUI, I did 5 FRESH & Never any frozen until last cycle. I got my twins.  (4 covered under insurance) We just paid for last cycle.
2 Miscarriages, 3 Negatives.

I had my very first cycle(IVF canceled) then went on to have 4 more(1fresh 3 frozen) all BFN. I then switched RE practices and had 1 fresh BFN then a BFP on my first frozen there. My DD is now 27 months old. I went back a little over a year ago and had a frozen and now have a 4 month old DS.
Let me just say when I switched they changed my protocol with my frozen cycles that is where I had success(immune issues to where my uterus was rejecting the embryos had to go on steroids to prevent it).

I did 1 IUI with clomid and then went straight to IVF. We did 2 fresh cycles before getting pregnant with twins. Now 3 years later we are going for a frozen cycle. I never thought I would do it all over again but here we are

Yup! Two sets. We put two back in our first and only round of IVF because we were very overwhelmed by it and needed it to take. We felt like we couldn't do it again, as original poster was saying.

After countless IUIs, our first IVF brought DS. Now we're working on #2 and have had two unsuccessful fresh cycles. I was 34 with our first IVF and now I'm 37 which might be adding to it.
I agree with the others who've said just take it one step at a time, you don't know how much you can handle until you do it. For me, the anticipation of IVF was much, much worse than IVF actually was.

You never know what you can do until you go through it. There were many tears and arguments over what to do but in the end I wanted to be a mom and just pushed through. I did 3 unsuccessful IUI's, 2 Fresh and 2 Frozen cycles that resulted in 3 chemicals (on one fresh and both frozen) and am now 31 weeks pregnant from a 4th IUI we did after my last frozen.
