Ugh. Spotting rollercoaster. Has anyone been through something similar?
Sorry if this is TMI. I got a BFP on 12/18, but the line was lighter than I expected based on the timing. I waited to test again and on 12/23, the lines on different tests showed up pretty quickly and much darker. The next day, I had some brown spotting. It was only on the toilet paper, but I was a nervous wreck. It happened a few times during the day usually when I tried to relieve my constipation. Everything was fine for the next few days. Today, I was a little constipated again and when I tried to go to the bathroom, there was more brown spotting on the toilet paper.
I've been nervous since my BFP. This is such an emotional rollercoaster. I know straining can cause spotting and brown blood is old blood, but just when I was starting to relax a little again, this happens. I guess I'm just looking to see if anyone went through something similar and had a positive outcome.

Straining can definitely cause spotting. I wouldn't worry if it's just spotting and no cramping.
Have you been to the dr yet? I would make an appointment and try to get blood and a sono done.

I would think it was from the straining. Try not to do that. Maybe you can ask your doc what to take to help you "go". And, I spotted brown for a couple of weeks when I was pregnant with my DD. It's pretty common and normal.

I had spotting (red, not brown) with both of my pregnancies and I have 2 healthy children now.
Piece of unsolicited advice? Stop straining!

Re: Ugh. Spotting rollercoaster. Has anyone been through something similar?
Thanks everyone! I've been uncomfortable so I was trying to get relief, but it seems to cause more stress than it's worth. I seem to switch back and forth between an upset stomach and constipation. At least the spotting has stopped again. My first appointment isn't until the 12th.

I'd probably take Metamucil and Colace to help w/ the straining and drink lots of water.
Are you taking prenatals that have iron in them? If you are, try one w/o iron.
I had brown spotting with DS1 - he is now 16 months!

Take a colace and eat some high fiber foods
(Typically) a problem comes from extremes - extreme cramping.. Extreme bleeding... and then there are those who have problems with no warning symptoms at all. It's such an uneasy time.
What you're describing does not seem like cause to worry, in my opinion.
