wand vs curling iron

Does anyone who has used both have a preference? Ive been wearing my hair wavy so ive been using my regular conair curling iron without the clamp. I hear so much about these wands with all the bells and whistles im wondering if its worth it? Or does it does it do the same thing...

Im willing to go for it if it produces a nicer wave in less time... helps remove frizz... or is just easier in some way... since i wear my hair wavy daily...

If its just the newer thing then forget it im not wasting money...

Re: wand vs curling iron

For me it was much more difficult to use than the traditional clamp curling iron. And I burned my hands a lot. But I'm a spaz so....

wand vs curling iron

i prefer a wand because the tips of my hair look better than they do if I have them clamped with a traditional curling iron. But my wand is all one size (1.25") NOT one of the ones that gradually gets thinner. also, I wrap my hair around the barrel starting close to the head - not from the ends of the hair - which I find hard to do with a traditional curling iron with a clamp.

I have tried the curling wands that get gradually thinner and I do not like that type. They make my hair too kinky and just "dented" (not sure how to explain it).

Yes I burn my hands sometimes but what can ya do. A lot of curling wands come with little gloves to protest your hands. I have one but find it too awkward so risk burning myself instead lol

wand vs curling iron

Ok im just gonna save my $ then cause ive just been using my curling iron like a wand. I dont clamp, in fact i just got a great tip on how to remove the clamp and im just going to do that.

I thought maybe it produced a better wave or did in half the time. But it doesnt sound that way. And i looked a few up and got the same feeling.

Thanks ladies!

That's a good idea about removing the clamp!

I use curling wands now. I don't find them all that much harder to use and I don't have the issues of "fish hooks" at the ends of my hair from the clamp. I think you can just take the clamp off the curling iron you use now if you're happy with it and use it as a wand. Mine certainly doesn't have any bells or whistles but it works well.

ETA: I have two sizes- a small one that tapers to a thinner point and a thicker one that's all one size. I don't really see much of a difference. I use the thinner one for very curly curls and the thicker one for waves. And the same goes for the gloves that came with the wand. One of them was just for the thumb and pointer finger and it was super awkward. I just occasionally burn my fingertips.

Same. My hair dresser said no need to even get a wand. You can use a traditional iron as a wand. Just don't clamp the hair. wrap the hair around the outside of the clamp part and bam its a wand!

I'm loving the beach waver, it's an automatic curling iron, but almost like a wand....it's pricey but totally worth it!

I have both and started using my clamp curling iron as a wand - my hair is long and it seems to distribute the heat better and produces a better curl. I just ordered the Xtava 5-in-1 which has interchangeable heads. I can't wait to try it!

I could never use a curling iron correctly. I bought the Dry Bar curling iron and it is AMAZING.

wand vs curling iron

I use a wand, and I often have people say things about my hair. I don't even own a curling iron
