I am using a Sperm donor. Did IVF with ICSI. Doing another cycle and I thought there would be more sleek to use.

At first they said yes. A few hours later they called and said no more.

Should there have been leftover?

My donor is sold out. Now I will have three embies from on donor and hopefully from another. Will they be kept separate? I chose open donor so my kid could connect with him at 18 if so desired. But if they are mixed up it won't matter.

Sigh. Head hurts.

I'm sorry thats so annoying. I'm sure you spent a lot of time picking the right donor and to have to do that again I'm sure is exhausting. I would absolutely ask them to keep them separate. I wonder how that works since you are doing the genetic testing. I'm sure your RE will be able to tell you what will happen. Hopefully they can keep everything separate. Where it gets tricky is lets say they put back 2 (not sure how many you are planning) and it ends up being one of each donor based on quality and then there would be no way of knowing which donor worked if one took. Ahhh, always something. On another note maybe its a good thing you are using another donor because maybe the embryos will be even higher quality.

Well not sure this is helpful but Since I'm in the same boat, open ID donor sperm, single mom, I would NOT be happy with that. You should really stress to them how important it is to keep the embryos separate. I would not be okay not knowing which donor is my child's biological father. You can't DNA test them if you needed/wanted to find out. If your child feels a strong need to know you can't give them firm answers. And we have an active sibling group which is amazing!!! We've met some of my son's half siblings. We even hosted one for two weeks at our house. We share pictures, medical info, stories, etc on our Facebook page. I'm so happy that my son has that connection with his half siblings. I've opened the door for him and when he gets older he can pursue or not pursue relationships with any one of them....but he has that option.
I stored five vials of sperm to try for a full sibling. I'm trying now and I'm on my last vial. At my original consult appointment my doctor told me that if I got to three IUIs i should do IVF for a few reasons, one of them my limited supply of sperm (my donor is retired now). He told me they could defrost, use what they needed then refreeze the rest of the sperm. I would get more tries out of a vial doing IVF he said. So yes they could have saved it but maybe they didn't realize or there wasn't enough left?
I'm sooooo sorry you are in this terrible position.

When we did IVF, we had to use DH's frozen sperm and had backup donor, so I'm well-versed in this.

Yes, 100%, the fertilized embies will be kept separate from different donors. And, when you do transfers, they will only do a transfer from one of the donors at a time. You will not be able to transfer one embie from each donor during a single transfer.

As for IVF, you have to assume one vial minimum per IVF cycle. So no, I would not have expected "leftover" from your first cycle.
