IVF'ers, can we talk follicle sizes?
I know I'm not a doctor, but I am a very good overthinker and worrier!
I just got the call that my doc wants me to take the HCG shot tonight and my retrieval will be Saturday morning.
WHAT??!!
I'm kind of surprised and worry he's rushing it. I kinda figured I'd take the shot tomorrow night and have retrieval on Sunday.
Yeah, yeah, I know I'm not the one with the DR. in front of my name. And I do trust his knowledge and experience, but I'm still going to worry.
My follies are currently measuring: 18, 17 1/2, 16 1/2, 16 1/2, 15 1/2, 13, 12 1/2, 11 1/2
So all my IVF experts, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.

Re: IVF EXPERTS, can we talk follicle sizes?
I'm not sure I'm an expert but I've done IVF a few times I'm pretty sure any follicles over 15 are considered mature. Also, once you take the trigger shot some of the smaller ones can continue to grow and end up being mature by your retrieval. So you already have 5 mature and the 13 and 12 1/2 might very well catch up. He probably doesn't think it's worth risking your other follies getting too big to wait for the smaller ones. Also, your hormone levels can have a big impact on when you trigger. I think it's the estrogen that they monitor carefully and that can indicate when you are ready to trigger. I know they always waited for my bloodwork to determine when I was ready to trigger. I hope that helps! Good luck!
