Would you be annoyed?
I go to a practice and can not get an appt with my own Dr. Now I have to do the strep B and internals going forward and have to see a different dr in the practice. I like all the docs but it's awkward. Is this the norm? I hate that I'm at the end of my pregnancy and having to think about this
*** thanks everyone! After reading the replies , I'm feeling better. I think everything is just bothering me/ upsetting me at this point I can tell I'm getting toward the end because I'm starting to panic about everything!!

Re: Would you be annoyed?
At my practice they made you rotate doctors. There were 3 in the practice. Each appt I got a different one. I think it's pretty standard as they want you to get to know and have a relationship with each because you don't know who will be on call when you deliver.
I didn't really mind, they were all very good, but I did have one I liked the most and luckily he was at the hospital the morning I went into labor and he delivered my DD. It was luck of the draw though.

Re: Would you be annoyed?
Thank you, yes supposed to rotate through which I have done. I guess I don't like being told I can not see my own Dr. (I asked to see either of the female drs) this far along. Sigh.
I think I'm just over being pregnant and dr visits

Yes this is normal and no I would not be annoyed - any one of the doctors could deliver you.

I had to rotate through all of the doctors in my practice, though I had a bad experience at the hospital with one so I refused to see her. She ended up taking the page when I went into labor but by the time I got to the hospital a different doctor was there and she did my c-section.
My rationale was with a vaginal delivery the doctor is there to literally catch the baby. The nurses do everything else. I wasn't going to suffer through visits with someone I had a 1 in 5 chance of spending maybe 5 minutes with on d day.

Re: Would you be annoyed?
Well it seems like that's the policy for your practice.
My practice will have you see other doctors than your own, but only if your doctor is at a delivery. They also make EVERY effort to be the one to actually deliver your baby. So, for me, yeah I'd be a little annoyed. I'm at 31 weeks and I've never seen anyone but my doctor.

Hmmmm... i guess this is standard but ive never heard of it. There are 2 docs at my practice but they are pretty strict about you making appts with only your own doctor unless there is an emergency. When you call in you might get either of the doctors on the phone. When you give birth your doc makes every effort to be there, but you might get stuck with the other doctor. I had such a quick delivery the first time my doc almost didnt make it!

Re: Would you be annoyed?
If they are no available appointments with your choice doctor, then yes, that's normal, what can they do, ya know, they can't switch appts around to accommodate preference. But if they are just not letting you, then that's weird.
My practice had a bunch of doctors, and I was usually able to choose who my appointment was with. I was at least able to avoid the one I didn't want to see - thank god I didn't go into labor on his day at the hospital!
It will all be ok though, we're all sensitive to everything so late in the game. Hang in there

It's normal to rotate and see everyone. Towards the end I could barley ever get an appointment with my dr cause she was booked weeks in advance and I was making my weekly appointments the week prior to going.

Would you be annoyed?
I would just see whoever I could get an appointment with. The doctors I saw were also hospital employees so when I delivered, I had whoever was on call and really they just stood around and watched while the residents did all the work.

this exactly, i know my doctor very well and I preferred going to the other doctors so I could get to know them.
The day my son was born one of the other doctors in the practice delivered him because my actual doctor wasn't the doctor on call. So i was glad i got to know the others

Re: Would you be annoyed?
Totally normal.
I honestly never cared who I saw. I just cared about the day/time of my appt.
In fact, there was one OB in my practice who I didn't particularly like when I saw her early on when I was spotting. She wound up being the OB who delivered DD and now I love her. I'm going to make her my primary gyno.
