has anyone previously been induced prior to their due date?
I will be 39 weeks on Saturday. At my appointment last Thursday, they did all these tests on me and the baby because my blood pressure was high and I was really swollen. They had me do the 24 hour urine and blood test for preclampsia and I am waiting for the results.
They said if they come back positive they will want to induce me this week, and even if they come back negative they want to induce me next Monday or Tuesday at 39 weeks.
I am not even finger-tipped dilated or anything yet. I fear that I am going to be induced and not be ready and end up with a long labor and a csection at the end.
Does anyone have any prior experiences with this? I guess I should just trust my doctors recommendation?

Yes. I had gestational hypertension for both pregnancies. With older dd, my water broke at 39 weeks exactly but labor didn't progress so I was induced with pitocin. 21 hour labor but it was a very easy and uneventful labor. With my 2nd, my hypertension was worse so I was induced at 38 weeks. It was another totally uneventful induction - 11 hours from pitocin to baby. No regrets!!

Re: has anyone previously been induced prior to their due date?
My water broke 10 days before my due date but I was not dilated at all or having any contractions. I was induced with cervidil which works very slowly. They held off on pitocin because they were hoping I would continue dilating on my own, which I did. 24 hours later, I was finally fully dilated and I gave birth. It was a very long process but I was very happy I did not need a c-section.

I was both times and it's one of the reasons why I refuse to get pregnant ever again.
ETA: first ended up being vaginal birth. Second ended up a c-section

I was scheduled for an induction at 39 weeks with DS 2 (I had an induction at 40w 4d with DS 1) but, he decided to come early.

I was induced at 39 weeks with DS due to hypertension. Pitocin only and I labored for 14 hours but it was a very smoothe induction process and I have no regrets. I delivered vaginally after pushing for an hour and a half.

I was induced at 39 weeks with dd2. Cervadil and then pitocin. Successful, easy vaginal birth. I wasn't effaced or dilated and my body caught up.
There's no guarantees how labor will go, if you're early, late, induced, natural. Could be long or short. Vaginal or emerg c-section. All that matters is when you hold your new miracle and everyone is healthy.

Yup! At 37 weeks with DS. My blood pressure was double what it was supposed to be. This time around I'm on Calcium and Baby Aspirin to reduce my risk of pre-E.

Re: has anyone previously been induced prior to their due date?
Yes with both of my pregnancies my water broke each time. Was not dilated or anything. Induced with cervadil both times. DS was a vaginal birth, and with DD I ended up with a c-section. You never know how it may go... I honestly didn't care so as long as they got the baby out safely.

I was induced at 39 weeks because I was already 4cm dilated and contracting from 35 weeks on. It ended in a long labor with a csection the end.

Yes but at 40 weeks & ended up with a c-section however I fully progressed from 1cm to 10cm my DD was just stuck. Also my bp continued to climb after delivery so it was a good thing they delivered her when they did. Trust in your doctor

Re: has anyone previously been induced prior to their due date?
I had two failed inductions both resulting in csections. The first was at 34 weeks due to preeclampsia and the second my water broke at 38 weeks. For the second, even if my water hadn't broken, I was going to be induced just a few days later anyway because I was starting to swell again and my doctors were worried about preeclampsia again.

I was induced a few days before 40w w DD1 - was not dilated at all before. Induction was 48 hours, but ended in vaginal delivery. GL.

I had two successful inductions. Second one was at 39.3. The whole process was about 21 hours. I think I was like 1 cm.

I was induced at 39 weeks for GD. No dilation whatsoever before or during induction. Even with pitocin and cervadil I never progressed regularly and ended up with a c-section 2 days after my induction date.
ETA: If you have hypertension even borderline it's better to deliver ASAP.

Re: has anyone previously been induced prior to their due date?
Yes I was 39 weeks and had gallbladder issues so I was induced. It took 2 rounds of cervadil (24 hours) and then pitocin. All went well
