Plainedge residents come in!

I'm currently house hunting and looking in the districts of Bethpage, Seaford, Wantagh and Plainedge. Plainedge is the only one that I don't really know a lot about. I can see on greatschools.org that the high school gets an 8, but I don't directly know anyone who lives in the district. How do you like it thus far? Do you like your school? The teachers? What math and reading program do you use? The other towns I'm looking in are more town-y. Since Plainedge pulls from multiple towns, do you still feel like a community? If you would rather PM me you can, but I'd love to hear all opinions! Thanks!

Plainedge residents come in!

I have many friends who grew up, live in, and/or work in Plainedge who have no complaints. I would absolutely consider it if I was looking for a house. One of my good friends grew up there and now teaches at the high school.

Re: Plainedge residents come in!

I grew up in Bethpage and now reside in N. Mass- Plainedge SD.

I love where we live. We are in the East Plain Elementary school.
I feel like it was similar to where I grew up with the exception of my house being a split opposed to a ranch.

I am best friends with my neighbors and live on a great block.
Taxes are a bit high but I feel like it comes with certain areas and keeps the SD funded and programs are offered.
Def small community and I like that part.

I didn't stay in Bethpage only because we couldn't find a house that fit our needs. Otherwise I would of stayed there.

I'm right by 135 and SSP. Husband commutes to Queens daily so its nice and convenient. I also work in Seaford so I'm 7 min from home.

We looked there and would have no problem buying there. My sister lives in the district, so far she is happy. We actually almost bought there but found a house we liked better in one of the other districts you had mentioned.

Re: Plainedge residents come in!

Are you aware that Plainedge is close to the toxic water plume from Bethpage?

The homes south of Boundary Ave are zoned for South Farmingdale Water District and homes north of Boundary are zoned for Bethpage's Water District. Bethpage's water wells were found to have high high levels of radium and all of these chemicals are carcinogens. We crossed off all those towns because of this.

We live in N Massapequa- Plainedge schools. We really love the area we are in (just south of SSP) and have no intentions on leaving!

Our kids are not in school just yet, but have heard only great things about the schools from our neighbors and we live right by the HS.

As for the Plume. Do your own reading and reserach. There is alot of false information of there and people spreading information that is worse than it is. Not to say it is not scary, but I would totally get full home filtration system if and when the time comes that I need to.
