Major First World Problem: going out in style if it's raining!
My friend is celebrating her birthday this Friday and it's going to be raining and thundering! It's in the city and I am going straight after work: it's not far from my office.
But what do I even wear? What do you wear to a swanky restaurant in the meatpacking districts while it's raining and thundering? And how do you manage to look decent upon arrival?? How do you even wear any kind of nice looking shoes?? Ugh!!

Can you bring your heels or nice shoes in a nice work type tote bag and change when you get to the restaurant and then check your bag?
I always where whatever I'd normally wear- even if it rains I just try to change my shoes.
But clothing wise, I don't change that due to rain

Agreed. Change of shoes in the bag- or take a cab.

Yeah, I will definitely have to change my shoes. I am thinking of taking my croc flats with me. They will actually fit onto one of my smaller bag. But I guess clutch is out...
I can't decide between skirt and pants: I feel like a knee length skirt is safer than pants because of the rain. Pants always get went at the hem...

I have a feeling getting a cab will be an issue... There is always a bus that stops right by my office and goes ally he way to Meatpacking...

Take a clutch in your tote. When you get there, change your shoes, grab your clutch and check your tote at coat check!
ETA_ and yes a skirt or dress. But I always say a skirt or dress over pants!

I would do the skirt for the reason you stated. And Uber should work!
I actually do flip flops in that weather because its easy to dry your feet but croc flats should work well too!

How about some nice looking flats. Maybe leather type so the rain doesn't ruin the shoes. On a rainy day, I wear loose slacks with a nice blouse and style it up with flats, and bold lips to have that pop.

Always!! I always prefer to wear a dress or skirt on a rainy day. I can't stand wet hems.
