Asked for References But No Call- Update
I went on my 3rd interview with the assistant superintendent (final round). I felt like the interview went well and he asked me to send references. Interview was Friday, sent them Friday 2 hours after the interview and crickets. I then emailed his secretary today to confirm that he had received my email with references and she said yes. None of my references have been called and its Tuesday already..... I feel so bummed out 
Anyone else experience this and have it go positively? Or waited a few days and then they called?
I am just so confused... Why even ask for my references if he didn't plan on calling them?
Update: I'm being called back in for an offer!!!! Omg!!! Thank you all for your advice!!

The end of the school year is one of the busiest times of the year.
My principal interviewed potential teachers last week, but is not even thinking about calling anyone back until next week - middle of July. She did the interviews last week so they could demo with actual students instead of admins.
I know its hard to be patient, but you should hear something soon.

Asked for References But No Call
sometimes they just ask for the references but don't call them.. It is the end of the year, though, and I'm sure they are doing a few other things that needed to be done when the schools closed. I would give it until sometime next week.
On a side note- when I got hired about a month ago, the time in between asking for the references and getting the job was like 3 weeks. They called the references about a week after I gave them out

The asst sup't is busy closing out the school year. I'm guessing s/he received your email late in the day Friday -- too late to make calls. Monday s/he came in with many tasks to complete and maybe just started to make calls. Are you sure your references are around? Would they email/text you as soon as they are called?
I know when looking for a job it's highly stressful, but for district admins it's just one of many things on their plate. When I did a demo, I overheard the Principal talking to an observing teacher about her detailed summer plans, and it made me so anxious that they were talking so calmly when I was extraordinarily anxious.

Oh wow that's true... Ur right! Friday was actually the last day of school for LI. Yea, my references are around and I gave their cell phone numbers. I asked them to please let me know if they get called. My sis thinks I should call tomorrow to follow-up but I'm not sure if it would come off as being pushy. What do u think?

My advice is to lay low. You're not going to influence anything by following up again. Spend your energy on applying for other vacances you see. You can follow up on July 5th with a very brief email reiterating your interest and asking when they know if a final decision will be made.

This is good advice... I am going to take it as well LOL because I am getting myself very worked up too

Sorry I thought I hit quote, but it didn't attach lol It's in childhood education 1-6... I literally applied everywhere and got called to one district. I was starting to think olas wasn't working lol
